I know it's sorta off topic, but since everyone has been getting into accidents lately, I figured I'd post this. He has a 2003 Civic SI, he bought it a week later after I got my Celica.. but he hooked it up, did a custom dash job and had a LCD touchscreen monitor and rigged up a Pentium 4 2 ghz he built with custom case and had Nav, GPS, DVD, everything.. he just installed a Greddy Turbo on it, actually he took work off yesterday so he could put the finishing touches on it after he worked on it all weekend..
Anyways long story short, on his way back from work today some jackass pulled out right in front of him, sorta watched him then pulled out at the last minute, and my buddy and his civic went airborne, landed in the median upside, he managed to crawl out and his car was on fire, some people pulled him away and waited for an ambulance to show up while the fire dept. put out the fire, but there was his car and all he worked for... just gone in flames.
Anyways the guy that pulled out in front of him was driving in a "borrowed" car that wasn't registered, had expired tags, the guy had no insurance, and was driving on a suspended license. This happened in Maryland.. and they're pretty hard about insurance, etc.. So my friend was taken to an ambulance to one hospital, then flown by Helicopter to another hospital. Luckily he's okay, he might have lost vision in one eye, but he didnt break any limbs or no life threatening injuries.
But here's the kicker, my buddy doesnt currently have medical insurance, he was on his parents and just was dropped from that since he turned 23, he was waiting for open enrollment for the company he works for so he could get medical insurance through them, which was June 1st. So the guy who is at fault has no insurance to pay for anything that happen, the next option is to take him to court, but he probaly has no money and anything, so it's a really bad situation.. my friend is gonna have a huge ass medical bill, and hopefully his insurance will cover a new vehicle, it'll be his second in two years since his car prior to this one was stolen last summer.
Anyways make sure you have insurance and medical insurance, you never want to be in a situation like this.. it's just bad luck and wish I could do something to help
He will have coverage for his vehicle through his own policy, and also have coverage for Medical also. In maryland, do you guys have uninsured motorists coverage??
Damn i hope your friend comes out of this shit ok. Hopefully ill be getting back my celi today after skidding it off the road when some jackass didnt turn off his brights.

That sucks. all that work gone. my friend total his lude not too long ago. and i guess he had no insurance he is ok. his lude had minor mods. but i think he was speeding like crazy cause he fliped his car on a 35mph road.
technically if you sue the guy you can have a the court take a percentage of his paycheck out to pay for your medical bills. I forgot what it was called but it happened to one of my neighbors for hitting a guy and nothaving insurance. i think its a lean or something like that.
Some good news.. his insurance is gonna cover all the medical expenses.. he still hasn't seen the car and neither has GEICO.. so we'll see what happens next.
