there's usually a black gasket / weatherstrip that goes in the gap between the hood and the front bumper to help out with the fitment, or at least to close out the gap. it's hard to tell from your pics if it's there or not. if it's not, it's probably still on the stock. Look into that to see if that will help any.
I do agree though that the hood looks like its a little high-bent on both sides.
lol nah its not because it needs to go with other p[ieces. im contactinv veilside and sending pics...this is 1 of 3 hoods and i was contacted by another one who said it didn't fit. so thats 2/3 hoods in the usa that don't fit. so wheres the other guy and has he installed it? so far veilsides got a 66% fail rate with hoods from what i have seen and herd...heres 2 more incriminating pics i just took

he alraedy has that on his stock bumper as you can see in the pic so i don think thats the issue
also someone metioned that maybe you need the full veilside ff gt kit in order for it to fit(ie fenders and front bumper) i am thinking maybe the ffgt fenders are bigger than the stock fenders i had some fitment problems of my front being a tad bit wider than the stock fenders so the shop had to push it in. so maybe just maybe you need the ff gt fenders too
well since veilside says the pieces match up to oem perfectly then no you don't need the full kit. they said today on the phone since i asked that "it should match up perfectly to oem with maybe a touch of shaving to match flush with the body". quoted. i have sent in 19 pics of the hood from all angles and the veilside rep said that it looked bad from what he saw and he is sending the pictures to Japan and he will get back to me. now me posting on this site alone is losing them business because now people are seeing what they have to deal with. i bought original so i wouldn't have to deal with this fitment. the hood alone cost as much as a wings west kit and they both don't fit so whats the point of getting veilside? i don't understand why they don't test fit their products when you already pay so much for them. anyways i will fill everyone in on how this goes. but i told them "discount" is going to be key to keeping a happy customer. they are contacting japan and he offered to air ship a new one based on what they said so that makes me a little happier. but $600 for this hassle and its just the hood and i have yet to recieve ec-1 front, sides, rear, fiberglass spoiler. so im really hesitant on the rest of the stuff now too. well i will keep everyone updated on whether or not they live up to their name and don't dick me over and replace whats wrong and everything. plus 6 months and i still don't have the kit is horendous in its self when they advertise 2 months or less on website. oh well stay tuned for updates
oh can't knock the look of it though...from about 15 feet away it looks absolutely bad ass. already had one neighbor slow down to about 5mph to take a gander. so i can only imagine a mint one
make sure you take off this fiber hood and replace the oem one, you dont want it to catch some wind and fly up and possibly crack your winsheild and break the hood and possibly make you crash (it happend to my friend, and that sucks!!)
In Japan it is understood that all Fiberglass kits WIL NOT fit perfectly, they know that they must custom fit all the pieces to match. I'm not saying you're wrong but i'm just informing you about their policies, Japan has always been a land of self sufficiency. But in america we don't play that, you paid for a quality piece of work and you deserve it. best of luck to ya, I've been to veilside before and the guys are very friendly and helpful, hopefully all will work out for you.
if you press down on the sides the sides fit pretty good, but the main problem I c is the front for it is way to short to reach the spot that the OEM hood covers.
email them the address to this post, tell them their product speaks for themselves, let them know how many members (potential customers) are on this site and how much they stand to lose. There's no way I'd ever buy one, seeing those pics.
yeah it looks like my fitment is a nuthair better than yours but still when you walk up close its like and from 15 feet away its like . i talked to veilside and from the looks of it i can't drop the front of my hood anymore to the latch and the sides are still popped up. they told me that theres only 3 hoods in the usa because of "a bad batch". well im guessing these were the "good" ones from the batch and they really are not oem fitting by any means. i will tinker more tomorrow for better fitment but even the guy at veilside saw the pics and was like "you should be flush with maybe a bit of shaving here or there to make it good" then i say "so seeing the bottom of the hood at the crease line is bad huh?" regardless of the fact he said he may air ship a new hood depending on what japan says after they see the pictures. yeah well im in international business and i don't mean to push buttons but i will get a discount... its hard to adjust what you see on the previous page when you see that the hood is screwed in 100% and when closed its popped up so bad you can see the edge of the bottom of the hood. you can't exactly adjust that part of the hood. just the front. btw dude, there is a black rubber thing going across the top of the engine bay. DON'T TAKE IT OFF FOR BETTER FITMENT. hehe i thought that it could have pushed up the sides a little but it wasn't the problem. and omg its a bitch to get back in all the little holes. anyways im looking to get an email from veilside soon telling me whats up. sent them and mvp 19 pictures of every angle possible. raced a brand new V6 accord tonight. fucked with him in first not even flooring it. then he gave me a good run till i hit 3rd. 3rd i started pulling away from him instead of sitting next to eachother. hehe woulda been so pissed if i lost with my gf in the car too:) shouldn't have toyed with the automatic accord in first cause 2nd gear they get moving. 3rd they dog down though. swear it was a 2004 at least. looked like it drove right off the lot. anyways thanks for all the support on this subject guys. your probably about 75% if not more of Veilsides celica market so they best be good to us 2 so we can give good response to our outcome:) btw anyone know where the 3rd FFGT hood went to?
what pieces did you get from mvp dude? i got full ec-1 including Fiberglass spoiler and the ffgt hood. im thinking big discount or free ffgt fenders. ima ask next time i talk. peace dude and keep me updated regardless if post dies or not. thanks peace
ok so 3m makes painters tape and if you wrap it around the metal hook on the hood you can drop the front end another couple of centimeters. its the tape that has foam rubber and is double sided stick. put that on then wrap normal tape around it to make it stick then close. thats my ghetto fix of the day but the sides are still horribly bent upwards but at least the middle front sits snug now. however the 3m tape only holds one open/close and you need to replace cause the metal bracket on the car tears it up. not sure if its to safe to drive on but i don't see any other way of fixing it.
As an authorized Veilside dealer and also representing MVP (we've sold several of these hoods) I wanted to let everyone know that both Veilside & MVP Motorsports are going to do our best to make sure everyone received the part as it should have come in the first place.
To keep costs down Veilside can not test fit every piece that comes out of the factory. All Veilside pieces are made by hand and humans obviously do make mistakes. Thus far these two instances mentioned here are the ONLY ones we've encountered out of the 16 hoods sold in the USA thus far.
The great thing about Veilside is they will take care of you guys that bought the hood. If it doesn't fit they will make it right. Veilside USA has already ordered replacement hoods from Veilside Japan and they are having them shipped to the USA via AIR freight. That cost about $300-$400 per hood, I know I've done it before. Veilside will make it right for you guys! I don't know many companies that go to this much effort. While its a bad situation, I still applaud Veilside for all their efforts to make this right as quickly as they possibly can.
yeah as long as long as the kit comes soon i will be happy. i would really like the carbon fiber though considering the past instances that veilside knows i have encountered with them that has been noted via email and in phone conversations. much love for their products and their responsiveness but lots and lots of errors when dealing with me. as for MVP they had awsome response time and no issues with them. just great service. however i will want carbon fiber hood or a signifigant discount considering previous history with them
hey i will wait a while for a carbon fiber FF GT hood. its just the "you got the same hood in the mail just have fun and wait" that gets me. much drunken love for both companys at this point of the night. ga ga ga could go on... don't know if i should. yeah i just hope that it ends up in our favor for me to be happy. if they make good on their prospects then i will praise them till the end of time though. if its the same hood a couple months later then im not sure i will be as happy. but its veilside, so i know they will come through:)
