You gotta admit that driving around with an unpainted body kit is a tad bit ghetto.. but congrats on getting yours painted Kaminari is definitely the best kit, IMO

i found out that the reason for driving with an unpainted kit is to let the kit settle in to place and work out the stress fractures that may occur. if you paint it with out doing this you may end up cracking your paint and then shell out more cash.

That makes sense. I always have wondered why you wouldn't paint the kit and THEN install it. Good info

Buy polyurethane kits and you won't have that problem.

When the time comes to paint & prep it - you are left with having to sand-blast it to get a nice surface ready for primer and then paint & gelcoat. if I was a bodyshop and you brought in a body kit to me that had been unpainted but installed onto a car who've driven around with it and now its all filthy, I wouldnt touch it - because I couldn't garentee that the final result would be of the best quality thats my take on things... shoot me down if you believe me to be wrong

go about what? Just bring your body kit into the shop - they will test-fit it onto your car and make all the nesasary modifications and then paint it. I've NEVER heard of installing a body kit so that it will "settle"... either it fits or it doesnt fit (and you make the modifications to it so that it will fit). once the fiberglass body kit is securely installed to your car, what parts are going to change shape on you? Look at it this way - you are only painting HALF of the bodykit... the visable outside half

I have no previous experience in installing kits so it seemed to make sence to me, i guess its my bad for being gullible. i havent had them install my kit cause they said it would be around $1300 to do everything. oh well no harm no foul
