yes, lift is a lot like VTEC, except it doesn't kick in as early. when we hit 6400 RPMs a rocker pin activates the more agressive cam to alter the lift of the valves, which as you guessed is pretty much the same as VTEC, except i think VTEC normally has another valve kick in too doesn't it? i think a 4 cylinder VTEC has 20 valves if i'm not mistaken.
anways, i hate my damn headlight fogging up, but i think that i finally got that taken care of with a little elbow grease and some silcone
i hate the cheap interior taht get fast scratched up and the cheap interior on the doors that you can push in and see it moves big time and if some on leans at your car when window is down there the window is you can see the hole section pushed down , and a little harras on dumbs ( it is a sport car i know !) teh car is a little tto good looking for its hp peepz trina race me all the time and taht is not taht funny if you have 4 in the car its so slow. ( talking about the GT )
but teh best part is the handling , and the gear box very nice and close gears i have twm and my car in teh shop now i hate taht i have to move my arm on when i shift in my rental car
i dont like that the toyota emblem in the steering wheel is paint, half is scratched off, and i absolutely hate all the damn noises that come out of my engine compartment. these noises alone make me want to get rid of the car. speaking of which what kind of noise does the belt tensioner make, maybe thats one of my problems
I second that...damn cheap interior.
I found the issue to the funny noises under the hood. Sometimes, the drive belt makes irritating screeching noises. you can go get it fixed under warranty. I have no idea waht causes it to do so however.
I like most of the changes Toyota made to the 03+ Celicas (interior color & lighting, taillights, and antenna (goes down when the radio isn't on, GTS only). However, I don't like how the front end looks on the later generation 7's.
i like my s2k anteene...
i think we could have had bigger wheels on gt's's giving the gt's bigger wheels in the first place... and disks all around would be great! also if they would have painted the side skirts to match the car instead of putting the same grey ones on every single car!!!
and if the rear seats where put a little further back... i dont need such a huge ass trunk... but i do want more space for my peeps... and i think electic seats would be cool... or heated (kind not good with all the movements the seat has to preform though) and a more dependable rear washer fluid sprayer... mine just dripps down the rear glass... anyone else? should i just clean it out??
torqueless on low rpm...really hate that, but te aeam Intake kinda changed that abit i still want alittle more torque tho assidews that, the back seat also could be alittle bigger...
My sister owned the car before me, she bought it because she thought it was cute... The gts was given to me after I wrecked my mr2. The exterior is styling and engine is much different than what I'm used to..
The wheels, shoulda come w/ 17's, everything else has em' + I think they coulda done a better job w/ the seats, bigger bolsters and the rear seats shoulda matched the fronts, for goodness sakes my G/F's Ion came w/ matching rears and its an ion
I wish the GTS had more power at a lower range. The panels on the side view mirrors keep coming off, my 86 did the same. Rear and side view are bad. I heard the interior looked cheap so I added in some wood paneling and it made the interior look a lot better. I didn't like the looks of the standard Celica but I love the looks with the action package. For the price the car should have electric leather seats, thermostat controlled A/C, better stereo, etc. Overall the plusses, great looks, and handeling, adequate power, and Toyota quality and reliablity, more than make up for the gripes...
wood dash...emm maybe you shouldnt even comment on "looks" this is a sports car.. not a luxury car...
aside from that.. the only thing i could say is that they should have spent a little more time making the engine more mod friendly. i know a lot of people dont want a Turbo and supercharger and all that and they cant mess with the suspension too much because they have to accomodate the masses... but it just seems so dam hard to get real power out of the celica... i wish the mods we have availiable would give a lot more power per dollar. and maybe bigger wheels would also look nice...a stock raised hood scoop doesnt seem like a big deal but a lot of people would have benefited from that small mod
passenger side door window shakes wildly when down, seems like its going to shatter when you shut the door, it needs better bolstered seats, and it's not rear wheel drive iunno? the celica is an awsome car! nothing really bothers me about it? rather then it ... it nothing

With those really bad blind spots, I got a nice Broadway mirrors to replace the stock mirrors and I can see almost at every angle. Highly recommended for all Celica drivers.
O yeah, with the GTS and its weak low end power, if one was to attach an AEM Intake, wouldn't that help a bit? Just wondering.
not enough low end power, blind spots, and the problems with the windows, unfortunately i have had to go to the dealer on numerous times to get the windows repaired. The toyota guys told me that the celica has a weak window system compared to all the other models. i dont know what the hell he has to base that from
Ask yourself one question. Is the juice worth the squeeze?
