I searched and found numerous posts with info on rev limiter moding in general as well as related to the "under reved" 2K2GTS.
1. ECU Swap/Knock Sensor Swap with 2K1 or 2K?..
2. Some Member offering to mod the Rev Limit on a Denso Ecu for 100 dollars thru Mail Order style.
3. Apexi Power FC. (Very Pricey. Like Diamonds
4. ????
Anyhow, My question and Comment really is this.
What is the cheapest way when my only concern is to at least have the same rev limit as all of you out there that are crying for a higher limit than that. I'm sure I will feel the same if I even had a little bitty slice of 8K+!
So is there anything else out there other than what I listed? Hoping I could just mess with the ecu myself. I know how to use a hot glue gun and McGyvers pubes to hack a gts ecu... hehe
the best thing would be the PowerFC but its a little less than a grand, but you can tune it and get more power out of your car and you'll have an 8600 rpm limiter that is better than 8400
OK, but let me ask this regarding the ecu swap. 03 and 04 have DBW drive By wire and are not swapable with 2002. 00 or 01 are the only choices for me correct? Also, does the knock sensor need to be swapped as well, I hear from the posts that it is, but no one has tried to see what happens with the 2002 KS. Any help would be appreciated.
PS- I do not care about the Power FC right now. I do not have the money for this an just want a few more revs.
The least expenssive way out is to get the ecu from a used parts dealer, like a junkyard. I got my knock sensor new, because I didn't want to worry about it. The ECU I got was 200 bucks with a guarantee.
250 bucks = 8400 rpm rev limiter = hell of a lot faster, a little more than a second faster from zero to sixty.
