im probably going to need some dynomat or some kind of deadener so my question is how much do you think i would need and is the trunk the main place for it. Pics of where you put it would really help. thanks.
put dynamat where ever you want, no need for pics. . . ..
3 Door Kits, with do your whole trunk, sides and bottom, and rear of trunk. . and it will do all behind the wheel well's as well.
1 door kit should do both ur front doors , the metal skin and the metal frame work.
1 door kit should do under your rear seats and all along those panels. ..
i covered every square inch, and i think i used a total of 5 door kit's. . . . 3 door kits = 1 trunk kit. . . a door kit should have 12 sq. ft .and a trunk kit should have 36 sq. fit

hey i just did my trunk with fatmat, same shit, i got the 36 cubic ft package and i did that, behind the plate, and around the speaks and still had 3 sheets left over ( about 9 cubic ft ) its self adhesive all you gotta do is remove the plastics, wash the inside of the car with a spray solution and dry it, then place, cut, and roll it in! took me about 3 hours to do my trunk but it feels nice and solid
i took out the back panel where the hook for the trunk latch is, its already carpeted behind it but i still did back there, the whole spare tire well, and i took out that little plastic container thing behind the back seats, as well as the plastics on the left and right walls. those are held on mostly by those little white thingies and a screw by the headlights thats attached to a hook i think for the trunk cover, and there are two screws that pop out where the latch for the back seats are... once you do all of that you trunk will be naked
hmm, i may do this someday since my colleague at work has ALL the hook up from industry insiders (guy gets free snowboards & accessories from burton & solomon, every a/v manufacturer, Performance audi and scooby parts, etc...) i just remembered last year he had 3 huge boxes of dynomat outside his office...

dynamat is pointless on the celica, because the vibration from the front speakers will go into the door panel, since the glass rolls down behind the speaker, there isn't enough room for dynamat in there.

how do you take that back panel off to get to the trunk latch? also what should i do to my license plate and the TRD frame around it to stop rattling? the other thing that rattles is the passenger door handle. i tried to find how to tighten it but i didnt really know. i took the door panel off a little to look in there and pull some of that plastic back but i didnt think you could get to the door handle. it's rattleing like crazy so i need some help.
As far as the passenger door handel goes there is a tsb on that. (go to tech articles) Put something soft behind your license plate to get it to stop rattling.

i 100% DISaggree with you. you can dynamat the frame of the door, and then you can also dynamat the skin of the door. . if you walk around my car and knock on my doors you can tell very easily where there is a piece of dynamat and where there isn't and, there is also plenty of room for the window. its not like dynamat is that thick. . .
if anything in the door should be dynamated, its the skin. . creating a stronger sound enviroment for the speaker.. the frame you can do without but skin is a must. ..
edit: and when you say door panel i think you might mean the plastic panel, but you can still dynamat that too. . if you want .. you can dynamat the world!!

Yeah, I've given up on the front door rattle. Now I just keep my bass half-way up and the sound slightly faded toward the rear... it helps some.

when you say put something soft behond the license plate does it have to be thick enough to keep it off the car and does it need to wrap the edges so they dont rub either?

What I mean is that you should cut something to the exact same size as the license plate and screw the plate and the cloth(or whatever) onto the car.
and no you don't need to wrap the edges

My friend just told me of a great idea for the rear plate the other day. You cut out a piece of corrugated cardboard to the exact shape of your plate. Then you take some heavy-duty adhesive (I think he used silicone glue) and glue it to the back of your plate.

yeah i think thought of that. i think im going to tap another set of holes for the bottom of the plate. what about that?
it will rattle less secured by four screws but then you have...two more holes in your car. Plus, it can still rattle because there's nothing soft inbetween the car and your plate.
The best thing you could do would be to get a neoprene sheet and cut it to size

i took a piece of matting that was left over and cut it to my plate size and just used that. it works fine. plus i took off the back plastic and tightened all the screws holding the piece that says CELICA above the latch in place, i found that to rattle more then my actual plate.

there is a handle on the inside of the trunk. Remove the phillips screw holding this handle in and pop out the entire back panel. It's very easy...

Since Dynamat really doesn't solve all of life's problems, many audio manufacturers produce a liquid deadener which will have a much better chance at solving that problem. Stinger and Elemental Designs...
