Just got back from a local bodyshop and they charged me $192 to paint the center console and the piece around the odemoter and the ac buttons. Is that price fair or did I get ripped off?

Sounds right to me. DIY can turn out very nicely if you know what you're doing... but you can't go wrong with a pro job thumbsup

ya, doing yourself is better, you can make it just how you want it. Its a pain to sand though =/ btw if i wanna redo my center console how should i go about removing the old paint?

sandpaper wave

You don't have to take it all the way down to the plastic again, you just have to make sure it's nice and smooth...

unless of course, the original paint is peeling or something like that... then you have to strip it down.

Um, I was charged $100, but I disassembled the whole thing before giving it to him. Took maybe 20 mins. for me. A friend was charged $60, he purchased the paint though on top of disassembling the center console.

I got mine done professionally for 40 bucks. The guy only charged me for the paint, he hooks me up on stuff all the time (installed my hoodpins for free). Looks really nice too, even has a clear coat finish thumbsup

eek The body shop around here was only going to charge me like $200-300 to have my front and rear bumpers painted and mounted.

I'm gonna take your little Civic. Dust it off. Turn it sideways and stick it straight up you candy A*s.
