I just got my car back from getting a new transmission installed. Now, im getting a ton of feedback through my speakers all of the sudden. Its doing a ticking noise and a constant high whine, and a loud increasing whine during acceleration. What could they have done to mess that up, or could it just be coinsidence that it started now? How can i fix it????

Sounds like your grounding is screwed up. Check your grounding of the head unit and the amp. Maybe they ground to the trans for some reason...

theres no reason for the grounding on the amp to be screwed, the headunit grounding is a possibiltiy though. any other ideas????

I haven't done any work on the new celica audio system, but I knew my old one in and out. I had the same symptons on the old celica and grounding was the problem. Either the audio problem had nothing to do with the trans or it was caused by the trans. Either way grounding at some point is the likely culprit. I have had to reground ground circuits to the frame of the vehicle to clear this problem. Good luck!

i checked the ground on the headunit and doesnt look like anythings wrong there, im confused. anybody else have any ideas?

I had the same problem that you had just a few weeks ago, and I tried everything, different grounding locations, rewiring everything, checking the amps, and got nothing. I finally found out that it was the headunit, and had to send it in to get the outputs fixed on it. I'm not sure if this is your problem, but I had the exact same whining noise that increased as the rpm increased. Just an idea for you to check out.

ask the shop if they messed around with anything electrical, like grounding to the tranny (if any), or disconnected anything to install your tranny, because if one ground in your whole car is messed up, many times anything audio-related starts creating noise like from what you described.. happened to me in my lil sis' car.. someone put a low voltage/amp positive with a ground wire together (surprised that there was no fire)
