hey guys. i've installed tanabe sustec springs in my gts maybe about a month or so ago and i still haven't gotten my alignment yet. i've already bought the camber bolts for the front wheels and i read on another thread that you can use the stock camber plates for the rear wheels. anyways, my question is if anybody knows of any good shops that can do a good alignment [no margin for error] at a good price. i'm in the san francisco area and san jose area a lot so those areas in particular i'm looking for a good shop.
my friend w/ a wrx suggested auto innovations in milpitas and they said they can do the whole thing for about $130.

what did you guys out there pay?
shop suggestions please! thanks! =]

they're charging $60 for the alignment.
but they also need to install the eibach camber bolts which brings it out to $130. unless this is a job i can do myself? anybody out there with the same set up as me?
tanabe 2" drop = ? for alignment plus camber bolt installation for front wheels.

shop around for a place that will allow you to purchase an alignment plan for a certain amount of time.

I paid $150 dollars for a 3 year alignment plan. I bought it in december of 2002 and i can get all the alignments I want with no extra charge until december 2005

As far as I know you cannot truely align a car that has been lowered... I went to two shops and they both told me they wont do it because they will be just taking my money because you can align it once its dropped confused so I dunno about you guys who got urs done confused but the word here is "truely" so they might come close but not 100% I guess

They're probably right that they don't have "Factory" specs to go by, but you can still align a car.

ok maybe you didnt read my post properly or you lost connection but I said it cannot be TRUELY aligned...I never said the car cant be aligned.. what I meant was they were just saying it will not be 100% properly aligned and they were actually cool for letting me know...unlike most places who r just out to make a buck. rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes

^^ yeah... my boy w/ a wrx took his car to get alligned at wheel works and they had the alignment off by a small margin of error... but the place he told me about in milpitas is really good and got it close to perfect.

Most good shops could align it exact to whatever specs you want. I had a hard time for a while finding a place that would even look at my car. Too low to get on the lift, blah blah blah, etc. etc. I got quoted anywhere from $150 (a shop that fixes Ferraris, Porsches, etc.), $130 from an STS kind of place because of the camber links, the same for Vespia's Tire (which now they won't even touch), and $80 from the place that mounted and balanced my tires. The thing is some shops don't want to guaranty the alignment on a lowered car, by my location, so there fore won't do it. Now it's, do I get the $150 and know it's going to be perfect or the $80. Every place varies and will tell you s**t depending on how hard they think it might be or how long it will take even if it's as simple as setting a stock car's specs. Just make sure you get a print out of a before and after alignment on your car and a warranty of the work in case you need to go back in the future.
