I've been hemming and hawing over what system to get for my GTS.
I have an alpine CDA7995, but my dad wishes to buy that off me for what I paid for it, and I want to get a different system.
I'm not really into loud thumping bass, but rather crystal clear audio (i wish I had the same as my Cerwin Vega/Yamaha home theatre in the car...)
Anybody got any suggestions for amp/speakers things of that nature?
I will do the install myself if it's not too terribly difficult.
And my budget is about $400 for the speakers (as the head unit is $419 but that'll be mostly covered by my other one)

Also, I LOVE the way the alpine Type R speakers sound, but the guy at circuit city said they wouldn't fit into the celica?
The component set is like $250 for the front, and the backs are like $179...
I'd like to get them, if they'll fit...

If its going in the trunk any sub you pick will fit! I have the 15" MMATS JUGGERNAUT. thing needs 4.5 cubes just to breath, but for subs you might want to look at DHD or JL or an ADIRE AUDIO brahma those should be good for SQ

I don't really want a sub woofer, I'm not into thumping my head off lol
I just want some nice sounding speakers and maybe and amp to play them loud...
I would add a sub if it didn't take up the whole trunk and wasn't too thumpy.

Hey if your looking for crystal clea audio, while still having thump in the trunk, then you need to look into getting eclipse anything. My friend put in a 500 series eclipse head unit, a titanium sub and 1000 watt amp. I have never heard anything sound as clear as that. Just thought I would give you the heads up

the top of the line Alpine's (9813 and 9815) have a ton of filters and settings you can change for great overall sound quality. As for components, Diamond, Boston Acoustics and Eclipse have some decent components. You're going to want to get a 4 channel amp with low THD, also.
