Hey, to those of you who move in larger car circles, what are some of the opinions of the 7th gen Celica from the other camps? Dose Celica get respect, street cred or what ever you want to call it?
I mean, Like the Honda Heads or the VW crowd or the people who have no idea its a Celica they just know its one of those damn imports.
The 7th gen is unusual in that it is the best handling and most powerful of the Celica lineage. Most peoples opinions that I know are colored by their perceptions of the early Celicas (ie handles good, but slow).
around my area people love my car, they think it looks bad ass, great handling, nice interior, and good Performance but they think its a girls car only
ohh, except for the cop who pulled me over for "drag racing", i told him my car wasn't fast he told me it was.
what was really funny is i was racing my best friend, she has an 02 sentra. he pulled us both over in front of her house, 3 miles later.(can you say profiling?) He asked me what he should do w/ us. i told him he should give me a warning and let me go cause i would never do it again ( insert sweet innocent eyes here)! he did.
hmm this one dood driving a porche parked next to me once at school and told me "wow you really tricked out your ride, looks nice"
I was just thinking to myself...dood it comes like this..stock
i was at the carwash drying my car outside the wash and a guy in a porsche was drying his next to me and he was like "hey thats a nice car there you got balls kid getting a black car in the city but nothing looks better" Everyone pretty much likes my car and thinks its cool. Then there are a couple haters that talk shit.
You get the haters no matter where you go, but the thing that really gets me is that most of the haters are people that dont have nice cars, but rather drive trucks, or old pieces of shit and have nothing better to do than trash other people's rides.
I dont smoke in my Celi.. so after work I hop in and worm it up (So I can VVT right out of hte parking lot) and stand there having my cig before my drive home.. as PPl walk out I get compliments on it daily. And Im not modded much at all. I have girls complimenting me on it all the time...
lets face it, celica should be renamed sexica. a celica defeinetely looks like a bad boy, and i dont understand why ppl call it a girl car. a mustang is more girlie IMO, the engine roaring on a mustang makes a girl look badder. but a celica is a bad boy. you seen that new commercial of the focus that says "begs to be driven" and the car is talking saying "drive me, dont park me... bla bla" that should be a celica commercial. a celica just looks mean and aggressive.
honest to god truth...nobody has ever i mean ever complimented my car(other than friends/family and ppl here on the boards ) not a single person(that i have no relations with) has ever complimented my car

you need to get out more then lol
everyone says it looks nice but says it aint that fast. what I tend to hear is that celicas are slow "but oh, not yours, you dont count" ha ha. especially at the track. for me, my car gets respect at the tracks, but most celicas dont. sometimes I usually have to go on 1-2 runs before it sinks in with people lol

that's awesome...hahaha.
but yeah, i don't know what message boards other people surf on but...the general consensus is that the celica is an underpowered, over-priced, chick car with over-rated cornering ability that has good top end power (GTS). you hear it from eclipse,RSX, tibbys, honda owners, hell even from some celica sites.
personally i don't really care what other people think. i can think of far worse things to drive around in

man i drive everyday and preety much go out every weekend, still not a peep from peeps
I get 'looks sweet' all the time. It's usually Hondas that say 'it's slow'. I get stopped going into the base all the time so the gate guard can check it out... I like it, but it kinda gets old after a while, especially when I'm running late.
there isnt too many modded celicas around here and everyone says my car is badass. in WV everyones all about the old american muscle cars and the big trucks ( rednecks) so they are always dissin my car, but all the girls seem to like it. and thats all im in it for
ppl on the streets give my car compliments...i was once at my friends party and i went out to my car to see wut set off my alarm (paranoid after getting keyed)and theres this chick googling at it asking if its my car and if she could ride...i didnt know wether to be scared or flattered by her
I get a lot of stares when i drive by, but mine is stock except for rims. But i did get an old guy saying i made it look pretty nice, even tho i did nothing to it. ????? Then again there are A LOT of celicas in my area...especially the same color as mine (silver)
Once said by a wise man..."i am too metrosexual for my own good"....you know who you are...
iam in the san fernando valley(hollywood, glendale etc) big known cities with lots of imports around maybe thats the reason, iam just another one of "those" guys if you know what i mean
Yeah thats prolly the problem. The area Im in its all SUV's and your normal run of cars. And jsut about every Import I have seen looked like they drove through Pep Boys with a giant Magnet on their car.
