hey i want to get tinted windows but , whats really safe without cops stopping me . also what percentage tint is a stock celica?let me know what you have ,thanks
I have 30% in the front and 20% on the back and the strip on my front windshield. I believe in Fl darkest you can go in the front is 27% and 15% in the back...but it varies from state to state
i have 15% in the back and 20% in the front. i read its illegal to tint the front windows in CA. i'm always driving by and passed cops and i've never been stopped.
The place where I got mine done had 3 options. One was light, one was medium but dark, and the other was dark. I got medium on the front window and dork on the rear and quarter panels. Both are illegal and I haven't been messed with. I want to say it look like 30%-20%
interesting ... in maryland its 35 % but not 35 aftermarket. is stock 95% ? thats a big difference. way to light. i wonder if the blue tints are illegal? those are the best looking.

20% just doesn't seem right the pics of you guys' cars looks like the tint is much darker...mine in the rear quaters is 5% and i'm waiting for another nice day to do my rear and then i plan on doin the front doors @ 35% except you sir isaac urs does look friggen dark
yeah, passenger windows in cali are illegal...but i have 35% on fronts and 20% back...i work next to a police station...so far no troubles, not even a dirty look
6% means almost invisible and japanese law prohibit under-70%-tint in front, driver, and passenger's window. in addition, no decals. of course, my friends dont care! anyway thanks!> isaac
wow so many of you have tints over the legal limit. do you ever have problems with cops? i wanted something that i wont get stop for but still looks good...i really need the tints also...
but most recently I have just been telling the cops that I prefer the "non-correctable" tickets over the "Fix-It" tickets.
I'd rather extend the ticket pay date out the full 4 months and pay $72 (while being able to cary around my "get out of jail", "non correctable" ticket for those 4 months)... then having to pay to get everythng removed and inspected within 3 weeks - then pay again to have it put back on - only to get pulled over again 3 days after that

most police will not pull you over just for tint. but if you get pulled over for a moving violation, most police will add the tinted windows to your ticket.
I have 35% all 'round but front windows are peeling so I'm thinking of peeling it all and doing 20% all 'round. Eventhough it's illegal in NJ to tint your front windows so hell with it. I'll probably do it anyway...
Illegal to tint the front windows here, kinda sux!
Hey, I'm in alberta, I tinted my sides (both the triangle ones and the driver/passenger windows 35% and the rear window 20%. Haven't had any trouble yet. But I do make sure I obey the speed limits (keep it under 10k over LOL) and haven't had a stitch of trouble. Go for it man.
The guy told me my driving would attract more attention than my windows. I haven't been hassled for my 35% tint on the sides, but I'm sure if I get a ticket, they might throw the tint infraction in for a bit of icing on the cake. But there are a LOT of people with windows as dark as mine around.
I've been told that my tint is too dark for the state of Ga. You can't see in it during the day and during the night it's just jet black. My car right now is that celica blue that looks black. I also have my front windsheild tinted very light because of the dark strip over the front and the other windows so it make the full front windsheild looks like its clear. I have gotten 2 speeding ticket goning from ga to al, but the cop never mentioned the tent.
Minnesota has some strict ass laws, but I'm gonna tint mine way below the legal limit anyway. Besides I have my windows down a lot of the times, and the cops in my town are stupid anyway.
