Ok so i have a 01 gts with aem cai, underdrive pulley, trial headers, b&m short shifter, custom dual exhaust, and my car is still not fast. I went to the 8th mile track last night and had a terrible time. best run was 10.13 thumbsdown thumbsdown thumbsdown. my best run was last year 9.84 thumbsup(before the underdrive pulley and trial header) but i just could get it to hook up last night. My power fc should be here today and if it does not wake my car up, i am selling it and getting a WRX! I am tried of dumping money into a car that just is not fast crazy. Thanks for letting me vent rice

The Celica is designed to take corners fast, not to do the quarter mile in 10 secs.

did you buy the car to race at the 1/4 mile track or as a daily driver to get to work and back?

Honestly..why do people take their Celica's do the drag strip?

This is not what the car was meant for...

Toyota didn't give the Celica 4 wheel independant suspension so you could go in a straight line...

Buy some nitrous. Maybe 800 dollars and get 35 hp at the push of a button. Or Turbo would definatly give gains. Honestly you have just done the basics. These are gonna help but its not gonna transform your car into a race beast.

my advice -

1) blame yourself not the car
2) ditch the trial header
3) tune your PFC with the stock header
4) invest in dr's if your want great launches
5) more practice you get the better your driving will get.
6) check the racing forum or the Performance mods forum cause thats where this post belongs.
7) post the #'s from your slips we can give you more specific advice on how to change your driving to make the car faster

hmmm with all that money he invested, he should've at least researched a little. i'm not saying this against him, but just that if it was me i would find out things before dumping 1000's of dollars into it.

^ True...how many cars do you know that pull 1G with simple bolt-ons like coilovers, sways, & braces. What's the point of going fast in a strait if you have to slow down to a snails pace to take a turn grin

everyone skipped my comments lol

he cant drive and he has the wrong mods. thats his only problem. the celica is plenty fast enough with the right mods/driver. also the biggest problem when a car cant hook up is usually the driver. I've seen corvettes run 9.4 in the 1/8 because of bad drivers so raw power doesnt always help grin

rofl wtf if you're chirpin gears you'll get smoked thumbsup Ideally you will want to avoid as much tire spin as possible giving you the best times. I''m sure I have more power then 60% of the celicas on this board (prolly more lol) and I dont chirp any gears. I get a slight chirp coming off the line launching at 8300 rpms but thats always gonna happen wave

Their right celica is not for speed. and why do you want to get a speeding ticket anyway. because thats what happens when you want more speed. More speed=speeding tickets=you lose your license. Celicas are for looks and if you want more speed in a celica I suggest you do an engine swap angry

Word...this guys driving must be horrible. I see in my mind him spinning the tires at the line and landing his 2nd gear at 5500 rpms. Money to spare on mods and no patience to learn how to ride the beast...bad combo.

It's ok though... I see lots of rsx-s with i/e/hondata running 10's in the 1/8...they taste good.

didn't you just get a fucking body kit on it?? confused

anyway, people are stupid..if you want a fast car, then buy a fast car...if you could care less, then get what you LIKE and don't have to worry about.
i got what i always wanted...WRX and i couldn't be happier, love it a lot more than the celica.

Yep, it's all about the driver...just bugs me when people are so dissatisfied with the celica's Performance... and in reality it is their Performance which is lacking thereof.

As for the update on my body kit Billy, I haven't put it on yet because I haven't had the cash flow and am getting a new trd japan clutch since mine just went out. You can have looks and speed... too bad the wrx can't tongue j/k man

Damn some of you guys are a little insecure. why dont you both shut the fuck up and get back on topic.

yes the celica is fast properly driven but it was more meant for the autox/ circuit. line up a celica and a miata on a really tight course and youll see how much fun it is to keep up with the miata.

Why would you go drag racing in a Celica? Its too nice a car to go and ruin (i'm assuming its 7th Gen). Why abuse it? You'll take thousands of miles off the life of the engine, go through clutches and tires like underwear, damage your engine mounts, ruin your gearbox...and need i go on? An for those who say its a trackday car, WRONG AGAIN! A Lotus Elise is a trackday car, a Radical SR3 is a trackday car, a VX220 is a trackday car, a Caterham R500 is a trackday car. A Toyota Celica is not a trackday car. It is a sports coupe designed for the road. Its not meant to be hammered and abused. Look after your car!

Sometimes I wonder if all the people on this site are as idiotic as Lucky317. ohboy ohboy

Exactky. If you wanna go racing to a track, by a trackday car. The chassis and suspension of the Celica are not designed to take a hammering round the tracks, neither are the brakes. Notice how quickly they fade when you cane it through your favourite piece of twisty road?

what? we modify and tune our cars. celica's may not be track cars but it's where they work best. people on this site modify and tune their cars for a reason, we don't just buy sway bars or exhaust just to drive 40 mph to the grocery store.

uh the point is that you can MAKE the celica a trackcar...and with that money spent, you'll still be paying less than a fucking lotus elise.
you drive what you LIKE, it doesn't always have to be SUPER fast and handle really good all at once.

A brand new Lotus Elise is the same price as a Celica T Sport in this country. In fact it was a grand cheaper before they dropped the price of the Celica. Granted the new 111R with the Toyota engine is more, but thats top of the range. FWD sports coupe, not RWD track car.
