Got my DC sports header installed today, feels good, but it idles rough right now, the mechanic told me it's gonna do that until the MAF works itself out and not to worry!
AND, i finally got my exhaust the way i want it was rubbing against my camber braces but now it sits at an angle and looks really good. the whole new setup sounds great too, now all i have to do is get my Intake looking good again and i'll be set!

MAF is your air sensor thingy. Probably needs a cleaning. What happened to the post on cleaning the MAF sensors? Didn't somebody bump it TTT? Just search for it. Its important, so get it cleaned. Don't ask why, just do it!

Since carburetors went away in the early ninetys, fuel injectors reign supreme, at least for cars that is. You still see carburetors in lawn mowers and such.

wath is MAF ? and how does a header sound like? same question here The mass air flow sensor sort of "weighs" the air coming in through the Intake, and tells the ECU how much fuel should be injected into the engine. Too little fuel and too much air, and you run lean. Too much fuel and too little air, and you're running rich. The only aftermarket header I have heard was for a 93 Cobra and 00 SS. Sounded like a hiss, and sounded really clean. No other way to explain it. And about hearing your header over your exhaust... I think the Intake would be louder than the header in almost all conditions.

okay to answer the lazy folks question: 1. it's HKS hyper. 2. no i don't have pics up yet, but i will as soon as possible. 3. i had to have my exhaust re-routed because it was rubbin against my camber links (bought the same muffler as HKS hyper, but instead of wasting $300 getting the prefitted bolt-on pipe, i just had the muffler place do it) now, to install the header and the fix the exhaust they charged me $150, and it only took them about 5 hours, so i didn't even really notice that i didn't have my car. 4. I can hear it not necessarily OVER my exhaust, but the car definitely sounds different. the only way that i can describe it is that is "clacks" a little more, like a built mustang or something if that makes any sense. 5. It's not my MAF cause i just had a new one put in, the mechanic said that the ecu has to get used to the new part an recalibrate itself to accomodate; he said it would take approx. 45-50 miles before it would stop 6. AND FINALLY- yes i can tell a difference, a lot more torque, i don't have my Intake on at the moment, i had to take it off to get past emissions, and when i was putting it back on i scratched the powder coating off...down to the bare metal, so i have to get it refinished before i'm gonna put it back on... hope this answers everyone's questions, if y'all have any more let me know!!

What kind of exhaust do you have? Can your hear the header over the exhaust? i dont have an aftermarket exhaust, but, i have the hotshot header and an AEM Intake, and you can hear the two distinct sounds- "hissing" sound coming from the right where the header is, and the all familiar deep sound of an Intake from the left. not exactly answering your question, but, wanted to throw that out

If you hear a Hiss from your header you prabally have a leak somewhere. the only thing you will gain from a header is maybe a louder exhaust, but definetly more torque. Depending on how long the runners are will determine the RPM the torque is gained at.

I just ordered the DC Sports GTS header. Is there anything else besides the (header?) gasket that I need? What is the Toyota part number on the gasket? Thanks...
I get my kicks on EC.

how hard is it to install the headers for the GTS. i heard some people had to jack up the engine? No need for that. We pulled the header out towards the back of the car buy unbolting the exhaust and letting it hang from the car. It isn't hard at all, only took a few minutes to figure out how to take it out. And took even less to pull it out.

Good results? All I heard was pretty much bad. I'm glad I held off on this until things get sorted out. MattsGTS2000 did you have a dyno before and after the install? I'm still waiting on this and nobody has yet to prove if this header makes HP and TQ. Maybe a HP or two, who knows. Hows the quality? I know many people are having issues with this mainly.
