As most of you guys already know, my car had been stolen. Now that it's been recovered, the insurance said that it was 10 g's worth in damage. It looks more like 5 g's. My question is, what would you guys do? Let the insurance fix it or take the money and fix it myself? I know these are stupid quetions. It's just that this is my first time claiming insurance.
I would definitely take the money and fix it myself. You'll probably have some to spare after you fix the body and the ignition and the glass. You need new rims too, right? and a stereo?
10Gs damn ... personally I would push to get the car totalled then.
Otherwise just let then fix it. Get a rundown of everything they are going to do to see why it's so much.
The car is not totalled because the engine is still good. I looked at the paper, with a list of what they were gonna replaced and fix, and the trd front bumper itself cost $1025, the passenger side window $250, missing screw $1.00, broken mud guard $20 (which I don't have), some minor body damage like dings and dents etc. etc. everthing was high priced and added up to 10 g's The ignition and rims was not included yet. Now with all that money I can fix all this and still have plenty left over but there's gotta be a catch. What do you guys think?

Dude, take the money. Hopefully you will have a bunch of money left over... because your insurance is gonna be going up a lot. Save some of that extra $$ for your next insurance payment.
Your car is probably not totaled. I had $12k worth of damage from someone running a red, they said the damages would have to be around $17k for them to total it. I have Mercury Insurance..they said they take the low Kelly Blue Book value and use that to determine if it's totaled or not. If it costs more than the KBB value, then it's considered totaled.

Comprehensive (theft and vandalism) claims don't change your rates whatsoever.
I'm just a crosshair I'm just a shot away from you
