Thanks, you don't have to pay any subscription fees for the navigation. As for the wiring it wasn't as hard as I thought. It's basically all the same as a regular head unit. The only thing different is the hideaway unit, tapping into the speed sensor wire behind the gauge, and the reverse singal at the back of the car. The rest of the vehicle dynamics are read through the hideaway unit which has a gyroscope built into it. It took me a whole day to install it, but it's probably better to do it yourself if you know what you're doing. You save a lot of money too thumbsup

the navigation costs nothing? are the maps preloaded?? or do you need to get a disc for the area you are in, and upload it... or download it from Pioneer's website and upload it via disc drive... i want one of those bad, i went and checked out car toys, they were around 1199, and im not going to drop that much, im going to look at the flea market (stolen parts) or on ebay... looks great though!

Yes that correct, the navigation costs nothing. The maps come with the system in DVD-rom discs, one for the West coast and one for the East coast. Are you talking about www.cartoys.com [cartoys.com] ? It says they have it for $1999 there unless i'm mistaken. As for E-Bay watch out for fraudlent sellers. The AVIC-N1 seems to be really popular on E-bay right now, and once I bid on one I got a whole bunch of offline offers where people were trying to sell these units to me for $800~$1300. I'm sure there's a couple of valid sellers so be sure to check their feedback and their previous auctions. You might be able to find a good buy. There are also a lot of people selling "websites" where you can get the unit for $99. I wouldn't recommend those, one of the websites is http://www.membergifts.com they make you buy an e-book and you try to reffer more people for a 25 cycle. Supposidely you get the unit after you reach the top of the chain. I just paid $1350 and went to pick it up near where I live. I think the extra $100~200 is worth paying to buy from a valid source. Good luck thumbsup

Yeah, I used a neon tube that I got at target. I don't remember what the name of it was but I found it in the auto department. There's an install guide in the install section of ecelica. My neon is a little different but here it is: https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/thread.f_1869870766_0_collapsed_2__1.html thumbsup

Thanks Verano, I registered mine right away thumbsup

I checked the DVD-maps I have right now and they say version 1.1 so I'm guessing Pioneer already puts the new, version 1.1 DVD's in any AVIC-N1's that they sell now. But it's good to register for future updates and stuff. grin

Oh yeah!! When you installed the neon tube, did you break the light bulbs (orange), or dont have to do that?
