I was cleaning my car today..which was long over due BTW... but i can't seem to get in the shifter(auto) there is a little piece that looks like it comes off so you can take it apart but i don't want to mess it up by trying to do it without knowing...so my question is...if i lift that little tab..will that let me take up the plastic piece so i can clean inside the park drive reverse ect buttons and is it easy to do?

DON'T take that tab off. That is an override switch that lets you get the car out of whatever gear just incase something goes wrong.
Take the entire dash out and work from under it!

dash removal is simple
slide fingers under gear selector pull up (it pops out) and do the same with the other 3 pieces

ask those guys working on your car to do it. They look like they know what they are doing with that unpainted front end on your car ^_^

wait that little plastic cap isnt the override swtich, i bet you could take the cap off clean, just dont mess with the switch, which i also believe you need a screwdriver or something heavy duty to move it...

Yeah you do need a tool or something to use the gear override, but still.

Theres an easier way to remove it. Pull the e-brake up and in the front, slide your fingers in and pull up on the console cover. Presto!
