My exhaust never had the smell of gas. At the worst and cold - white exhaust fumes, like normal. I don't think a smell of gas coming from the exhaust could be good. Cars these days are super cleaners exuding water out the exhaust as waste not gas fumes. I smell some ass exhaust fumes more now on my 80,000 car while accelerating than I did when it was new or 20,000 mile old and it worries me a bit. Never a gas smell though.
