My girlfriend is looking to buy a car before she start college next week. I know someone who is selling a 1998 honda civic EX with 95,000 miles on it. The car is in good condition and extra clean. It was garage keep and lady driver. The only cons about this car is it has 2 minor dents and the hood kinda out of place..can be fix for under $400. He is asking $6000 for this car? Is this a good price?? Thanx

Kelly blue book said it would be about $6340, so yes it is, but then factor in the cost of the repair and it's about the same as blue book.

That's a lot of cash for a '98 with 95,000 on it. I'd look for an older model with lower KM on it. Should be a better deal out there.

Yup, it's in USD and his wife is the one who actually sell the car. The car is in very clean condition and paint job look ver decent since it's garage keep. I know it has 95,000 miles on it, but like toyota..honda can live forever too Well, his wife finally agree to sell the car at $5,400 and my girlfriend, who just got a drive lis., got very excited well, at least now she got a car to drive and it does not break her pocket much

By the time you pay that much, you might as well buy a brand new base civic.

I wouldn't pay 1/4 of that for a '98 civic with 95K on it, but if she's happy then who cares...

I know you guys don't like honda civic, but it's pretty reliable car, beside I don't find a civic ex for under $6,000 that isn't over 100,000miles around my area. They are slow, but who care my g/f don't race. Beside they last forever like toyota.

Actually, that doesn't sound too bad. Definitely run a Carfax on the VIN number, and get it inspected first. Most decent shops will do a pretty thorough inspection for $40 or less. With dents and the like on the car you can't be too cautious. Motor mounts and CV joints are quite often bad or about to go on cars with that much mileage.

it sounds like too much in my book... Well, I'd certainly try to pay less than 6K, but thats a typical sort of asking price you see for Civics with that many miles. I spent a lot of time looking for one for my stepdaughter (yes, I have a stepdaughter old enough to drive), and most with that many miles were asking around 6K (KBB, approximately). Good used Civics tend to sell pretty fast; everyone seems to want one - my stepdaughter included.

It's extra clean and been garage keep plus lady drivin. I think it's a pretty decent price. I told her to lower the price to $5,000 but since she like the car and was tire looking around so she bought it anyway. The car only have 2 minor door dents and the hood kinda bent a bit but you can't really tell.
