this is a letter i just sent them. what do you think? LOL

is there anything i can do about this? i bought a 2000 celica GT in june and 3 weeks after i bought it i heard a clicking noise while running when i started my car. I have worked with cars at lube stations and should have recognized the sound as an engine with no oil but i didnt because its a 2000 with only 25,000 miles on it. i rushed it to the nearest toyota dealer (toyota of auburn) and asked them what the noise was. the tech said "they all sound like that." i told him that the noise just started and they do not all sound like that. he shrugged and started to walk away. i then popped the hood and checked the oil...NO OIL!!! there was a tiny black dot on the end of the stick. i showed him and he said "oh." he did not offer further assistance. i had to go in and buy 3 quarts of oil which it took. i was a little miffed because i bought the car (not from them) but they didnt even offer to top it off for me. i then drove it for another 2 weeks and checked the oil. it was low again but this time it took 2 quarts. a week later it was 1.5 quarts low. i called toyota of lake city (where i bought it) and told them about it. they said to bring it in so i did. they had it from 9:30am until 3pm they said they didnt find anything. they said they checked the air filter, the pcv valve, the spark plugs, didnt find any evidence of oil burn, there were no leaks and they would start a milage research or something. they changed the oil too. 560 miles later it was .5 quarts low again i took it back and they recorded the findings and topped it off. i registered to a celica enthusiast website and asked them about it. one of the members offered to referr me to another toyota dealership to get a second opinion because there was something definatly wrong. the 3rd cylindar was knocking badly and made my car sound a little like a diesel. so the next day i took it to this new dealer. they took one look at the spark plugs and immidiatly saw the evidence of fried piston rings. the spark plug was white on the fireing point and had a black ring around it. AND the car was another .5 qt low. they ok'ed the teardown and i will hear from them tomorrow hopefully on what they find. i feel uneasy about the reputation the toyota of lake city will being upon toyota as a company. if they sell cars that are damaged and then pretend not to find anything. the evidence was obviously there. and toyota of auburn with their obviously unexperienced staff. customer service was 0. please let me know i there is anything i can do about this. i am very unhappy about losing my car for 2 weeks because of something the dealer i bought it from "did not find". thank you for your time.

ya, the dealers are always retarded when it comes to these kinda stuff. They seem like they dont really care about anyone. They do it to me all the time but I guess im a new guy I let things go away to easily.

You know what they say, "nice guys come in last."

Boy, what a bummer. Was the Celica sold to you as a "Toyota Certified" vehicle? Was the warranty no longer in effect (the car is more than 3 years old)?

The letter was very detailed and it clearly stated the problem. I hope they do something about the shady dealership with their unexperienced staff. It will suck if they lost their job, but then again they shouldnt be there in the first place, cause they put people in danger. I support you all the way, and hope something is done.

i dont remember if it was toyota certified...but it muct have been since i bought it from toyota? and it is still under warranty until nov 04..WOO cuttin in close im so glad i took it in when i did because its a 2000 and only had 25,000 miles on it when i got it it was still under powertrain warranty. its within waranty with 5 years and the milage which the cut off is 60,000 the bumper to bumper warranty is gone though which is a bummer because i noticed the ashtray wont close lol (btw anyone know how to fix this?) but at any rate i will find out today if they are going to take care of the ring problem becasue the manager has to agree with the guys that thats what it is and is in fact warranty...he gave me a 90% chance of it being warranty but in that 10% i have to pay for everything and im scared because im POOR!!!! crywhat am i going to do if i cant pay them? do they keep my car until i can pay and if i cant then they sell it? frowncross your fingers for me guys...pray for warranty!!! thumbsup

$10 says this is what you get from Toyota.

Dear _____,

Thank you for your comments on the service/product you received from Toyota. At this time, we are unable to do anything about it, so fuck off. We have your money, and aren't going to help you.

Go to the dealer, and get raped.

Thank you,
Regards,
Toyota Corp.

Well, even if it weren't under warranty, they should still give you a break because of the 1st crappy dealership.

Hey, congratulations on the baby coming!
