if you want to do HID right first and formost find out all you can about HID I didn't and just dropped $700 on a kit years ago.. hids4less.com (now gone due to current laws) Cliff notes on HID-if you want looks/color and Performance.. you have to change the projector. The stock non HID projector in the celica won't do both ... if you want looks/color you'll have to go in the 6000k and up range..the further up the less light on the road and the more purple you get .. if you want Performance stay under 5000k ..the best being in the 4100-4300k color temp range.. read tony's post that should be a bit more detailed.. HIDs... https://celicahobby.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/63576.htmlalso go for brand name hid's bulbs and ballast .. hella is one of the better known ones you may also want to check out hidforum.com and also note this article.. HID Banned in USA - FYI https://celicahobby.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/49193.htmlI wanted to see the difference between the stock HID headlamp vs the stock halogen headlamp... so i bought both also if you just stick in an hid bulb you're going to cause a lot of glare for other drivers... unless you fill up the two holes in each projector Difference of Stock vs HID Celica headlamp pictures https://celicahobby.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/153069.html

^^^ good info Erick...
- I recommend XenonDepot 4100K for a brighter output and 6000+ for bluish to purple hues

i got mine off ebay for $290 They all stay at that price range. (Erick the Celicas projector is perfect) Non-Hid its just because it dont have auto-leveling. When you have clear line on wall from Projector then its all good 5000k White <--- i would not recommend. 6000k white/Blue <-- ok 8000k Blue <-- ok 10000k Blue/Purple <-- ok 12000k Purple <--- i would not recommend.

is it possible to just buy the new headlamps that come on the 2004 celica, as they have HIDS from the factory. Im sure the price is up there but seems much easier to do.

^^ yes it is much easier to do but expensive i still have to test fit the HID headlamp I have to see if it fits but i don't see why not.. but indeed a lot easier and DOT approved **edit o wait you don't have to worry about DOT approval and johnsm sorry man ...although you are correct in some aspects.. the STOCK celica headlamps are not in the same ball park as REAL hid projectors.. REAL HID projectors can't take a regular Halogen bulb the light output just wouldn't suffice Stock headlamps can take both real HID bulbs and halogen bulbls.. but stickig in HID bulbs can often cause mad glare since they weren' designd to put to put out that much light.. Yes i know about the auto leveling feature that factory HID celica headlamps have.. but not all makes come with auto leveling feature... its more of an extra feature 5000k White <--- i would not recommend. 6000k white/Blue <-- ok 8000k Blue <-- ok 10000k Blue/Purple <-- ok 12000k Purple <--- i would not recommend.
[/b] ^^ all that is nice if you want "the look" but the thing is if you want good light on the road ... under 4300k is the way to go... 5000k is okay pushing it but okay... you go to 6000k ++ and you have light out put as good as stock if not worse ESPECIally on rainy days i have a 6000k and sure it has a nice color sorta but light output johnsm read the post tony put here it explains things better in more detail.. https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/thread.f_252822_0_collapsed_5__1.htmli've done the reasearch as Tony has and he sumed it up pretty good here it is.. I have done a lot of research on this. The best combination is Philips HID bulbs and Hella ballasts. Hella ballasts are standard OEM on BMW, MBZ, Lexus, etc. Philips HID bulbs are available in two types: D2S and D2R. The "S" stands for Shield, and the "R" stands for Reflector. D2S are used for cars with projectors housing with Shields. D2R are for non-projectors such as the new 350z. OEM bulbs from Philips are rated at 4100K and 4300K color temperature. Philips also makes a 6000K bulb, but it is illegal to use in the US. Color temperature at 4100K & 4300K are pure white with the highest output of lights. This is why they are standard OEM choice. Higher color temperature would give you a bit more color (blue, purple), but the light output decreases. Some people buy HID retrofit kits such as K2, Eagle Eyes, or Misterjungs thinking they just pop it into the Celica's housing and they would be just as bright and pretty as the BWM's or MBZ's. Or they buy the higher temperature kits such as 8000K thinking that it would give them the S2000 look. The truth is that everything has to do with the light housing. The S2000 uses the 4300K bulbs, which shines pure white if you look straight into it. The pretty prism effect (blue/purple) that you see when a S2000 comes down the street is caused by the optical design of the projector, and not the color of the bulbs. The Celica has free-form projectors. Unfortunately, it does not have shields (light shines everywhere). Fortunately, the Philips D2R bulbs fit perfectly in the H7 slot. How do I know? I have the HID kit from an Infinity G35 with Philips D2R on my car. The D2R bulb has a built-in shield which shields off the sides and the bottom-half of the bulb. This reduces the glare and gives it a much sharper cut-off. And it eliminates the shadows caused by the return wires. If you want your Celica to look like the S2000 or BMW, the best thing to do is to replace the stock projectors. I found that the projectors from an Audi TT (very small) would fit nicely in our Celicas. These projectors are designed for HID's, and would give you the pretty prism effect. Of course, you would have to take your headlights apart to do this. A complete HID kit with Audi TT projectors, Philips HID bulbs, and Hella Ballast would run about $450. There are companies out there that would do the installation, including HID kit for $800 - $1000. You would have to ship your headlights to them. The whole process would take 3-4 weeks. Checkout: http://www.illusion-lighting.com/I started off with the Mcculloch 5300K retrofit kit. It was bright, but the lights were everywhere (lack of shield in our projector). So, I replaced it with the G35 kit. And I am very happy with it. But, it is still not as pretty as the S2000 because our projectors weren't designed for HID's.Hope this helps. Damn, this has got to be my longest post. well hope this helps

and only way to get look and color Jace... 1. get OEM factory HID headlamps from toyota.. but very expensive.. or perhaps do searchin on ebay from time to time.. i found one on there.. but they are hard to come by.. 2. retro fit hid designed projectors into the headlamp.. -cons.. a lot of work and time... just sticking in a hid bulb you'd get only the look.. or the Performance .. as Tony and I have stated.. maybe a bit of the look but not the same as hid designed headlamps

looks nice but then again your fogs do seem to shine brighter... so how'd you get rid of the holes.. flares/ufos ontop of the horizon line?? did you fill in the holes in the projector??

yah probably.. thats something i want to look into now.. although having those 2 holes.. (as shown below..) would actually be really benefical with halogen lighting.. it REALLY lights up the highway signs real good though i do wonder if in the later models they decided to get rid of it..
