what is meant when ppl say bottom end of an engine
and how are other sections of the engine broken down

from bottom up: Transmission, Engine Block, Engine Head.

They may also mean that they are building up the internals of any of the listed pieces of an engine/tranny.

so what exactly am i reffering to when i say "im still running on my stock bottom end"?
what parts make up this bottom end?

A stock bottom end is the OEM pistons, rods, crank, and transmission. You would also be at the stock displacement. The head has the valves, valvesprings, retainers, etc.

Bottom end is pistions, rings, connecting rods & bearings, crank & main bearings.

the "bottom end" is exactly what Doo stated...the valves, retainers, camshafts, head, flywheel, cltuch and transmission are the top end and drivetrain from what I have always said or remembered
