Why does it have a REV limiter? and is there anyway to disable it? It's very annoying...

It has one to prevent distruction of your engine. To disable it, you would need to reprogram your ECU, or buy a stand alone one.

I would love to get a powerFC, but they cost a fortune! What do you mean by crystals?

Is there more pictures of the ECU or is that the only one? What source are you getting this from?

If I were you, I would buy one from a scrap yard & modify it. They are about $150. If you screw your original, you will regret it.

yes it does...but if you rev much past 7,000 rpm on a stock head GT (of any year) you will bend valves and have serious nastiness...you need the MWR valves and valve springs...even though I built my engine with stronger parts, I'm still not going to try this...no point unless you have a pfc to advance the VVTI and actually get some sort of power past 6800 rpm...and you can get the crystals at any electroinics store (by electronics store I mean electronic parts store) maybe even radioshak...but I doubt it...it should take you 30 minutes if that, and about $2.00 for the crystals

So, it's pointless to "up" your REV limiter?

unless you build your engine and get an apexi pfc to tune it...or get a Turbo and put in stronger valves and valve springs so your valves don't walk all over the place...the Turbo may make power past 7000 rpm...but that's a different ball park of money we are talking about

yah you can get rid of it by removing a crystal on your ecu. but by doing so you risk premature engine failure. due primarily to belt valve stems. i would suggest not to remove it, considering mimimal gains anyways, especially for a gt. and one other thing just one bad downshift and your jacked

The other thing is that the 1zz mkaes the most power at about 6700-6800 RPM (that's 100 rpm before the redline), so increasing it won't do anything but lead to problems. It does serve a purpose and it is there for a reason.

I think he means bent valves, but then again, maybe there are secret belt valve stems that we don't yet know about.
