alright, don't get mad guys but i'm a honda believer now. my best friend just dropped a type-r engine into his civic hatchback and that thing can fly! it feels awesome when the vtec kicks in. i tried keeping up with him in my gt but he just kept pulling away, it was really . now i really want to start working on a Turbo system so i can smoke him.

why would you get banned for saying that?

no one here can argue that honda/acura has a much better aftermarket compared with toyota. honda's have much more combinations for engine swaps--it's really a great thing

now go get a Turbo

yeah i was just joking about the ban thing, it just that some people here really hate hondas, the sad thing is that his exhaust from his old engine is restricting this engine, its holding back about 20 or so horsepower, damn.

this really puzzles me. hondas are great cars...it was actually the acura nsx that brought vtec to our shores. some peope are just

Have you ever driven a luxury vehicle such as what Lexus or BMW have to offer? or a vehicle with HP that starts in atleast the 300's from the production floor... What about a REAL sports car...

Sorry to say - Acura is nice, but the Honda vehicles that people do swaps with, scream "ECONOMY" - no matter how much $$$ they dump into them

Maybe its just me getting sick of the whole industry - or its just me getting sick of all the ricers in Los Angeles who think that buying an out-dated Honda (beater) and skidding around town makes them the fastest thing on four tires

whoever owns a toyota and talks shit about honda means they dont know much. and visa versa, whoever owns honda talks shit about toyota doesnt know shit about cars.
they are both great cars, and its known that honda makes some sick engines.

^^ honda ex. i assume thats an accord. you cant compare the celica with the accord. compare the accord to the camry, celica with the rsx. it comes to personal choice and interest. but once in a while honda makes some awesome engines, like the s2000, k20. the coolest engine toyota has now is probably the vvtli, and they havent made anything newer and better performing than the vvtli, cz i guess they dont need it anymore. at least if toyota is letting go the celica and the mr2, they should put a nice engine in the tC.

of course a type r motor in a civic hatchback is going to be really fast 195 hp in a car that weighs nothing do the math heh very good swap

I believe he has a civic but I'm not 100% sure.
It does have a nice engine. It may not be a 2zz-ge or 3s-gte but it gets the job done for what it is. Scion wanted to keep costs down so young people could afford it and not for it to be some bang up high powered car.

^^ok. if they put a camry engine in the scion for the price to stay low then cool. then they should have a sports version of it with a better engine. well, thats where the supercharger comes duh!

Scion is depending on aftermarket companies to provide the extra Performance enthusiasts want. I think that plan is brilliant

^^^yah, theyre about the same price... but thats just the GT, compare it to the GTS and you'll have it at around the price of an RSX-S

yeah he has a 99 civic hatchback he's gonna be getting a header, exhaust and maybe an Intake manifold so yeah he's going to be flying. so how come the 1.8L type-r is pushing out 200hp with an 11.0 compression and the 2zzge is only putting out 180 with an 11.5 compression?

cause honda sucks nuts... na they make some pretty reliable cars its just ricers have made a very bad image for most hondas. ill be screamin toyota till the wheels fall off

It could be a number of things. Compression isn't the only factor that makes power.

I know a guy who has a B16B 5spd that he dumped into his honda. Its a fast little car.

+ Honda H/B $1150
- Sold old 1.5L motor/tranny -$250
+ B16B & tranny $850
= Total $1,750

Dam cheap & it would give a GTS a go from one stop light to another. Honda is cheap, reliable & fast if you do the right swap. He's planning on dumping an H22 in it next, that's just crazy!

BTW, those are old Honda specs. They aren't SAE corrected. The RXS-S was the first honda motor to obtain a real 100HP per liter. So a 1.8 s/b about 170HP at the flywheel, about 150HP to the ground.

got to say, honda is nice. my next car would probably be a TL or evo, not a toyota again...

No offense man but you have a GT.. that against a Type-R motor is just like a GTS against a GT. The Type-R is a great thing but it's very over rated.. I had one, and I stand by my trading it in for a GTS.. well except for the trade-in value loss.

I think he just asked about the power difference between the 2zz-ge and the b18c5 not implying that his friend's civic hatchback had a b18c5. A b18c5 powered hatch is relatively rare, you'd most likey see them with si, gsr, or LS/LS vtec motors...

fast i dont care. i will never buy a honda/acura for myself or for my kids. just wont happen. i have a life time grudge.

I love toyota and honda just the same. The b16/18 and h22 engines are awesome. And so are their safety features. This was at 100mph.
