I need to buy new tires for my car - but am unsure what size tires I can go with. I have 18" rims - and the car has been lowered. Right now it has 215/35/18 tires on it - but I was thinking of going with a different size - but didn't know what would fit. Thanks for the help in advance thumbsup

^^That's pretty much what I was worried about - the tires rubbing - I spoke with a local tire shop that pretty much told me that a bigger size tire (like the 225/40) would probably not work because:
"The original tires that came on your car were 24.0 inches tall. The 18 inch tire and wheel package you have now is 23.9 inches tall making your speedo correct. The P225/40R18 will make your speedo/odo incorrect, and I am not sure if you will have enough clearance inside the wheel wells for them."

Why not going with 225/35-18

I have them and fit perfectly on a 18x8 wheel.

and you wouldn't have the problem your dealer said at all...

then get one, the Celi looks real goofy w. rims and no drop. I rec. TRD or sportline for a real aggressive look, and you can still fit a 225-40 with the SL drop too

I have the hotchkis sport springs (for those who know trog's old car - I bought it). I am not sure how much of a drop that gave me - but as for why I wanted a different size tire is because the tires I have now pretty much suck - very very hard, and crappy traction when it rains. So I wanted something with better grip and just a tad more give - but also want to make sure whatever I get will fit on my car and not screw anything up! grin

um... i am confused. confused 40 series are thicker than 35 series. Why would he have to watch the road more?

I think 225/40/18 is a great size. Wider and less bumpier.

215/35-18 is a little more risky for the rims than a 225/35-18.

225/40-18 is a good size if you mind rims protection, but with that size you will change your gear ratio and the car will be a little bit slower in acceleration.
