What is an 18R?

Can anyone tell me what an 18R engine is? I found a 1st gen Celica, don't know the exact year, that has an 18R engine in it. It was a project car, and I'm thinking of buying it from a guy. Does anyone here know?

18R or 18RG Either way don't hesitate just buy the car man! thumbsup


Look in celicadrifterXL's profile He has an 18RG motor pic in his signature if what You got looks like that then its got an 18RG in it.

If its 18RC then its the single cam motor thats came in the US, If its an 18RG thats in there, score!!

nice! does an 18rg head fit an 18r block easily?

if so, i may consider this before a 22r swap.

it's much much easier to just get a complete 18RG than putting the 18rg head on the 18rc block and fixing all the other issues like low low low compression pistons.
