Bottom line: it sounds bad, but you can kiss your license goodbye, whether or not you have a lawyer. Save that money for some other use. You'll hafta take traffic school whether or not you want to.

Also,I noted that you're from Colorado too. Same here. The cops here are absolute fucks. I got a 6 pointer going 80 in a 55. I went to class, and got it dropped to a two pointer. That's being an 18 yr old who had a clean record. There was a pretty fat fine attached too. 122 in a what zone? Where at?

Yeah, I grew up in Denver, and lived in Colorado Springs for a while a few years back. In the Springs, I got a ticket for going just 2 MPH above the limit!

Seriously though, you're lucky you didn't go to jail. Here in Arizona, speeding of that magnitude is a 3rd degree misdemeanor, with possible jail time. You won't go to jail, but do expect a heavy fine, possibly some serious mandatory traffice school, and a restricted or revoked license.

You should be thankful you were caught instead of involved in an accident. Accidents at that sort of speed mean death. If you had killed someone, you'd be looking at a lifetime of regret. If you're lucky enough to not have your license taken away, please don't endanger people like that (including yourself) again.

^^Listen to da man.

Look at in a bright light, at least you're not dead. At least you're not being punked out by some 7 foot ogre in the local slammer. It might seem harsh, but it'll be good for you in the end.

If it were up to me this is what would happen:
1. lose license until you turn 18
2. go along for the ride with EMTs once a week for a year
to see what happens when fast cars hit immovable objects
3. urine drug screens weekly for a year (how anyone could
drive that fast on a public highway without being on
drugs is a mystery to me, there's a serious lapse in
judgement)
4. 8 hours of community service for a year, including the
ambulance rides if you do any supervised work, like
carrying a dead toddler to the ambulance
5. driving school, but not a racing school
6. fine of about $2,000 dollars
Harsh? Hell, yes. But it should be. The state taking your license should not be necessary. If it was your own car, the parents should sell it and confiscate your license themselves. Driving 122mph shows you don't have a clue about all the things that can go wrong.

Honestly, best of luck.

Think of it this way. put yourself in the seat of the judge. He sees a 16 year old kid driving a sports car far too fast. He's unlikely to give you any repentence because your behavior was reckless. I plea bargained for my speeding ticket. I got four points knocked off after the fine and a course. But imagine what it would do to your insurance. Outta the roof, or dropped altogether.

When you go to court for anything like this, the officer who gave you the ticket has to be there in order to prove to the judge what you did, that is of course, if you pleed not guilty. One thing some people have done before is call the court and re-schedule your court date. Sometimes the cops don't check on this kinda thing so if you go to your new court date and the cop isn't there then you can pleed not guilty and get off clean, no fine, no points, no nothin. It's risky but some people have done it.

I got my lisence suspended about a year ago for 6 months. It sucked, but I deserved it. I got like 3 tickets within 3 years which added up to be too many points. Just be a man, you know you don't deserve to drive, suck it up and hand over your license, youll save a ton of money on lawyer fees. If you get off now, you'll probably do it again in the future when you have a lot more responsibility and really need to drive. You know that giving up your lisence is the right thing to do, just do it and get it over with.
