If this is in the wrong forum...feel free to move..
Is it just me or is everything ridiculously expensive for our cars?
I watch power block on spike tv a lot on saturday mornings because i'm bored and all the shit they do to muscle cars seems soo cheap. Dual exhaust from cat-back is like 350 on there...headers about the same...everything seems so cheap. If our engines have half as many cylinders...and smaller at that too...why the hell does ours cost more?

They just know we will pay it, so they jack the price. It is that simple, if we would stop paying it, the price would go down. It is like that with eveything. It's Market and Demand as always.

more people drive 4bangers than v8s. so the market presence plays a large factor in the supply and demand curve

Not to mention, not a lot of companies make parts for our Celicas (since there isn't the same demand there is for Honda... I guess?), so the companies that DO make parts for us are free to charge whatever price they want to, because they're the only one who make that particular part, unless you want to fabricate it yourself.
The more companies that make the same part, the cheaper that part usually becomes, due to the competetion.

^^^Plus JDM parts and other stuff has to be imported from Japan. (Like Tanabe or TRD) Note: Just found out that DC Sports is owned by AEM. AEM is based in California.

Yea everything you guys have been saying does make perfect sense...and it's understandable...just still shitty that it is that way kinda. I just got jealous of my one friend because he got an almost new 350, headers, exhaust, 4-barrel, and shifter for about as much as i could get a new 2zz engine

oh btw: the price you pay for import stuff is bull shit, you are always getting fucked, better bring the KY. If you can find a direct contact in the country where you want the products, you will almost always get it for half if not less. I bought a brand new Rare Citizen Titanium Watch direct from Japan for $100 shipped. But no here in the USA, they fuck you for every dollar, it would cost you $575.00 at a Jewelry Store for the same damn watch. I refuse to pay the so called import price and if more would, they would have no choice but to bring the price down. I have everything I need, food, my heath, roof over my head & love, everything else it just extra.
