Well as some of you know, A few fridays ago I wrecked my gorgeous 01 celi gts 6 speed.

But anyways this wednesday (2 weeks later) the insurance company finally comes and checks the car out, they totaled it, (of course) and explain on how much they are going to give me. Well the final sale on the car when I first bought it was 11,999.00 the insurance has given me a check for 14,865.00!!!!! Explain that. Here i was trying to sell it for 10G and I turned around, wrecked it and made more money. Aint it crazy the way things work.???

Insurers typically adjust totalled cars at fair market value, i.e. blue book retail adjusted for aftermarket add-ons. These cars do hold their value!!

they gave you that because that is probably what the fair market value of it was before the crash...

Hell if i knew you wer going to sell it for that cheap pre crash i would have bought it. Finding a celi that cheap around here is impossible

Now you'll hafta use that extra money to pay for insurance. Lose lose situation. You gotta go out and find a new car, while your insurance rate is pretty jacked.

his rate shouldn't go up... it wasn't his fault even if he sumbitting a claim to his insurace he shouldn't have to pay an extra rate

same thing happened to us. mom wrecked a honda civic, we bought it for 5000$. and they gave us about 7500$

Well, I thought that he was the cause of the wreck. MEaning that he himself caused it. Since that wasn't the case, it would be the other fellow's insurance company writing him the check. If he wrecked it himself, his insurance company would write him the check and fuck over his rate. That's what American Family insurance is doing to me.(FUCKERS!)

what insurance company are you with?

heartford insurance company.. they are pretty good. My rates arent that bad, but then again its registered that my mom is the #1 driver of the celica and i am the #1 driver on the trailblazer. So its a lil cheaper like that...
