Hey everyone my JP Vizage lip kit came yesterday...and it has screws, brackets, and 3M double sided tape around the edges i guess to have a nice seal. Does this shit actually stick...for more than a few months? It doesn't look amazingly trusty...but it came already on the f'in thing . Should i get something better? Help please if you know before i put something on that i'll have to replace down the road!!! Sorry if my topic attracted you and is a disappointment..

you should use an adhesive promoter to make sure it stays, but yeah it should stay. it's the same tape they use for side moldings on cars.

just use the 3M double sided tape to mount the kit then fasten it with the self tapping screws afterwards to definitely secure the pieces.

Use the same glue they use for gluing front/rear windows to your car. That'll stick. But make sure you never want to take it off again, 'cause then you'll have to cut it off.

as you had already stated, with the vizage kit comes self tapping screws & a set of brackets... After slipping the front skirt onto your bumper - you will find that the fit is tight ("snugly" if you will). From that point, two self-tapping screws are used on either side of the wheel-wells - then used the included hardware brackets to bolt the front lip to your stock's front lip from under the car. The 3M take basically keeps the seems tight together - there is no stress put onto where the 3M tape comes pre-attached to.
Once you have all the hardware in-place - your front lip isn't going anywhere, regardless of there being tape installed or not.LOOK AT IT with your own eyes and all this will be more obvious than it is if you just sit on the computer and read what others who don't own the front lip-kit are saying

why dont you mold the front/rear lips and side skirts onto your car? sure, it'll cost like $30-$40 to do it on your own, but you'll never have to worry about it falling off, just cracking from abuse congrats on the great choice of body kits for the Celica

i think you should take it to a shop and let them do the work. If you don't know what your doing then your just going to F it up.

i think you should take it to a shop and let them do the work. If you don't know what your doing then your just going to F it up. I am taking it to a shop...but the shop just happens to be owned by my friend's father so he's going to supervise so that my friend and i don't "F it up" I bought the kit off of Marowbdr on ebay. If you go to the vizages site you'll see this company is a licensed distributor of JP Vizage kits. I got it for $470 shipped...and a local paint shop said today it would cost $230 for prep, prime, paint, clearcoat. And that even includes the heating and oil-removing steps to get the oils out of the urethane kits. And he uses PPG paint. $700 for a body kit on my car isn't that bad.

yeah the guy at the body shop today said that the 3M body panel tape stuff is the best shit made as far as double sided tape...and he has some thicker stuff like 3/4" wide that i might replace the stock shit with to get some more contact area...and i'll just do that...i don't want to mess around with silicone or adhesives in case they would seep out etc.
