Any thoughts about by-pass valves? I have a AEM cold air intake and have been considering since I installed it to put the by-pass valve in. I live in Pittsburgh, PA where we get a decent amount of rain. I read an article on Sport Compact Car Magazine http://sportcompactcarweb.com/tech/0104scc_tested/ and they strongly recommend using it. Not to sure what to do...

Usually bypass valve works better on two piece intakes. Haven't seen a intake that's two piece for the Celica yet. They are almost always one piece. Not so sure if you want to cut the intake to accomodate that piece. Not many people have done it. If you are worried and live in an area where your cars intake is more liable to getting submerged in water then use it. The water in cali doesn't usually get that high but I have seen a friends Celica hydrolock it is not a pretty site. It does happen and with that in mind don't see why it won't hurt puting it on.

How did your friends car get hydrolock, did he submerge the intake?

Bypass valves don't work on our cars.  Our CAIs are too short.

i have an aem intake with a bypass valve...it makes me feel safer even if it doesnt help.

I've heard some were faulty and had a tendency to break and injest themself into the pipe. PLus, you're obviously losing power if you have one. I would secure your wheel well plastics a get a heat shield cover.
