I have a 2003 celica GTS 6speed, my buddy has a 04 RSX Type-S, and he claims celica's cant stay in lift from 1st to 2nd or any gear for the matter. I havnt had a problem because of the high redline on the 03'..but whats up with that, can some models of the celica not shift into lift in every hear??

Mechanically, it's impossible to land lift in the 1-2 shift. The gearing will only allow the engine to land at 5800. You can land in lift, however, if something slips, like your wheels or your clutch. Super fast shifting won't do it, and will only serve to destroy your 2nd gear synchro.

Hell, I can land at 6700 on 1-2 if I want. On a clean shift, though, no matter how fast it is, you can't land in lift on 1-2. Enter the gear ratios and tire size on any gearin calculator and it will tell you the same.
