I have a kid in my class at college that has offered $20,000 for my celica as is, he's seen it on this websight and he loves it. He just wants to drive it before he makes up his mind. I never even mentioned selling it, he just asked how much i wanted.
Problem is, were in wyoming going to school for 40 hours a week, and the car is in Iowa. How the hell am i gonna work this out, any ideas? Im thinking if he's a serious buyer, its his responsibility to make the trip to drive the car. but on the other hand, im pretty excited to sell it. i dont know.
Lastly, what should i get next. I've already almost bought an STI, and ive kinda been set on getting one of those, but im kinda worried about the tranny problems. so the last couple days ive been pondering the EVOIII. Ive thought about S2000, but i dont wanna own a honda. basically, I cant make up my mind, any help from the EC crew?

Don't sell one of the best looking cars in the world and get one of those junkers just because they are a little faster. Stay here with your Celica family.

If anybody could get 20k for there car thats slightly modified they would do it. If hes serious id get your car to you so he can see it stipulating he wil pay as soon as its there...basically find out how bad he wants it.

i see what your saying, but why risk making a 1600 mile round trip if it doesnt pay out. it seems like he should make the committment.

csheriff, I was just kidding when I said junkers. The cars you mentioned are some of the best cars on the road. I'm just a die hard Celica fan. No, I would not sell my car for $20,000. I wouldn't sell it for $60,000. Because I have more than that into it already. I know, I know, here is where everybody starts calling bullshit and asking for pictures and asking what the hell cost so much. Like I said a thousand times now, it's almost done and I'll post pics as soon as it's done. I'm trying to take Bob Mulls crown. If you don't know of him, you can see him here. www.4ncca.com [ 4ncca.com] .I will not be able to beat him next year, but I hope to after I put about another $50,000 or so into my car. Now this is the part where people say "Are you out of your damn mind? $110,000 into a damn Celica!!!!!" There is only a few who understand why I would do this. Anyway, I just wouldn't sell it because I love it too much, but if you lost the love, then any of those cars is a good choice.

BTW, my car looked a lot like yours when I won all my shows last year. And the guy who wants your car should make the trip. Chances are, he will change his mind at the last minute like most people do because he seen something he liked better or a bunch of people told him that he would be stupid to spend that much on a used Celica.

Badceli- We all know youve put great money into your car, hes put some money in his car, low miles bolt ons a kit and some rims..nothing too extravigant like you. If you had children a basic celica and were offerd 20k, its worth it.

I agree, but my love for the Celica makes me say "Don't sell it, get a cheap mini van and keep your car". I was just telling him why I wouldn't sell mine. I hope I didn't sound like I was just bragging? I just love to talk about my car. Is that why you said "We all know youve put great money into your car" because you think I am just bragging? Or you're sick of hearing about it? If so, that would suck because I like talking to you guys about all the things I'm doing.

Dont sell it? You serious? 20k in fuckin cash I you could go get a 2005 celica. I would sell it in a heartbeat. How new can you celi be? 2004? How many miles you have on it. I dont think that college kid know that he can get a new Celi of the facotry floor for that kind of money. Its one of a lifetime chance. But you are still waiting? Go for it.

If you would consider selling the Celica for another car then sell it. Getting 20K for an 02 with some mods sounds almost to good to be true in my opinion. Good luck.

Make sure the fool has the money up front. Don't waste time if he doesn't have the 20K he said he has. Sell it, and buy something else. 20K, plus a few of your own will open a lot of doors for you.

^^^^^ exactly, it looks like it would eat any of those cars. im tired of looking like im the fastest car in town. im tired of bolting shit on the celica and getting nothing out of it. shit, i have i/e/h/ pulley, clutch, flywheel, ss, and what did i get 15 horsepower. wow. put those one a evo or sti, your looking at what, 30, maybe more?
once again, dont think im hating, i love that car. if i get something else, im not gonna win the shows that i used to win with the celica, i know that.
all i have to say is this fucker better come through. good thing is that he really isnt the type to just talk shit. and its not for him, he wants to buy it for his girlfriend.

You got it csheriff, no more talk of a mini van. Funny. You're alright. I like the way you think. Now I have a question for you. My car is in the shop for the turbo install right now. I hope it will add atleast 100hp. Next year I'll pull the engine and build the hell out of the internals. Then I'm hoping it will handle around 20lbs of boost and maybe a 50 shot of N2O to help the turbo spool. After I do this, do you think my Celica will be slow? People always want to race me because they know Celicas are slow. I love the looks on their face when I beat them with just the 65 shot I have now. Can't wait to see what it will do once it's fully built. Ask Jason Alexader if his Celica is slow with his 304whp. Ask him how it felt to smoke that Camaro with his Celica.

Definitely make sure hes got the money before you take him any further on the offer. You're in college so that means winter break is coming up so the guy should be willing to make the trip back home with you to get the car, it's not like you need to get rid of it, he came to you first. A guy came all the way from Cali to NC to buy my friends Supra turbo, so if he is welling to make the trip then it means hes serious if not then don't waste your time. For $20000, I say sell if you can, then get the Evo or STi cause they open a whole new level of tuning with ALOT more potential. And stay away from the S2000(all hondas for that matter, exept the NSX) it doesn't look as good as the Celica and it's performance is less then the Evo/Sti. You could try to find a used Supra TT but i guess you want something new.

Ive smoked the shit out of my fair share of cars. your just missing my whole point. your having to drop that much money and time into your car to make it fast. ok never mind, im not getting into it. bottom line is im just looking for something different, and the opportunity might be now. also, i prolly wont get anything till i graduate in middle of june, so i have some time to stew over it.

i don't know if i'd take 20k with all the mods you got and such low miles. in fact, i don't plan on selling my car for at least 4 years (or if the opportunity arises for me to buy an Evo 8 MR, RX-7, STI, or Supra TT). even if it's not the fastest, it makes an awesome show car.

csheriff, No, you are missing my point. I wasn't trying to make it seem like you were calling my car slow. I was trying to talk you into keeping your Celica by reminding you how awesome it would be to have a car that looks as good as our does and be able to smoke a Camaro. Now don't get so upset so fast. I will never say anything to anybody on this site just to start an argument or just to be mean. I love you guys. No, I'm not gay.

^^^^^ glad you cleared that up, the gay part i mean. there is no denying the celica is an awesome car, but unless you want to dump a shit ton of money in the engine, the car will always look faster than it is. also im sick of going after camaros. i wanna go after the ferraris and the porches and vipers.

if you want a fast, affordable, and still comfortable family car, you may consider waiting for the mazdaspeed6. it's an AWD turbo sedan with some 270 horses, and i believe it's a midsize sedan. check out mazda's site for more details. in regards to spending tons of money on making a celica fast: that money really makes up for the difference in price between a Celica and an Evo, or something equally fast, whilst retaining all the hotness of the celica and making all the internals better than those of a stock evo. not sure how much of that you understood, but maybe i got my point across.

ok, just to clear things up, my question is not to sell or not. if he wants the car, im fucking selling, no doubt about it. im just asking opinions on how to go about getting a test drive arranged and what kinda car to get afterwards.
also, mazdaspeed6's have 270 hp? and they're awd? i didnt know that, and if thats true its definitley an option cause i like the look of those.
