Granted, this will be a biased response, but I was wondering what you guys thought of the Mini Cooper compared to the Celica? How does it compare in price, excitement, etc. I love both cars, and still have a year or 2 until I will be able to buy either, so I'm just kickin ideas around, thanks

mini's are for girls, men shouldn't drive "cute" cars unless they're poor and have to, as it makes your testicals shrink (thats just something I heard) ... sorry to be blunt
Buying a Mini would be like buying a Beetle. It is a joke for any guy to do... The only thing worse you could do would be to buy the convertable verisions of either.
My car is gunna be 10x faster than yours...haha... I'm gunna buy like 10 of those speedchips! I figure if 1 gets me 20hp then 10 will get me 200hp!

i think it would be cool to get an old school mini cooper though
No offense, but a lot of people consider the Celica a "cute girl's car" as well. Im just lookin for somethin good looking, and fun to drive, both cars seem to fit the bill

the john cooper works ed. is quicker than GTS. i guess it's cute looking. not much else, it's extremely small, crash test sucks, reliability sucks really bad (still english made), and go kart feel...
I will tell you why you should choose the celica over the mini. I'll give some reasons, rather than ersponses. Bear in mind, I'm using the cooper S
-Celica is japanese, hence a general case of better reliability -Wanna go out to the track?? Celica will win here. You put two capable FWD vehicles on the twisties, celica has better road holding abilities, acceleration and braking. -MINI's are extremely hard to get hold of. -180hp vs. 163hp. Who doeosn't love HP? (Note: it's got 156 lb-ft though ) -MINI is extremely light, so in adverse conditions, it'll be MORE prone than the celi to lose traction. -Celica looks better, that's only IMHO.
There are a few reasons for the MINI though. A John Cooper Works Mini would be awesome. A car british in style, but german in execution. Choose wisely, you won't be dissappointed in either one.

For sheer driving enjoyment, you'll have more fun with the go-cart handling of the mini than the celica. And if you think it looks a bit booring, there's allways...
You have to sort out what you're after. A celica with exterior mods is more of a posers car than the mini, for sure. But if your only goal is to have something fun to drive, I'd go with the mini.
Yes, you can definitely expect some bias on a Celica enthusiast's website. Having said that, (and please excuse the Starbucks-driven morning harshness) if you buy a Mini, you might as well wrap your genitalia in a pink bow.

What's wrong with English made? cheeky bastard!! The mini cooper S is a quick car, and it handles extremely well, personally don't really like the interior design that much but it is very well built..
BTW the new mini is a BMW, therefore German made, so ppppppfffffttt
Basically, I would only get a Mini as a "fun" car, if money wasn't the object, and I could afford to continuously pour money into it to keep it maintained.
i really like the mini. i cant compare it with the celica somehow, but i would have loved to buy one if i didnt get a celica. the car just looks cute and fun to drive, and not lot of ppl have it. and i thought that they did great on crash tests, actually outstanding.

That Mini looks cool. I've got a friend who's got a Cooper S in Gunmetal (or whatever it's called). It's not bad looking. It definately follows Euro styling with the understated but refined looks. Problem is the car is heavier than the celica. I personally wouldn't buy one (I'm not that big on the Euro styling), but I'm sure it has a really nice feel to it. I used to drive a VW Cavrio; it had nice handling, very nimble, though severely underpowered and very feminine.
Yeah, yeah, laugh it up (I know I did). It was my sister's car that was handed down to me. It was a good learning car, but it was Pearl Blue, making it look purple in the sun (pause for laughter)... But hey, free car. And, since I had not choice in the car, I guilted my dad into buying my Celica .

One of my good friends has one and their crash testing doesn't suck man, we were shooting a video on the freeway going 110mph and i made a hard right lane change from the inside lane attemting to get into the offramp (exit), when he did the same he lost control (has no downforce) and spun and rammed a Neon from behind (totaled the Neon) then he hit the middle embackment with his bumper (all this while im looking in my rear view ), i pulled over and i see my friend walk out like nothing and goes to the Neon to see if the lady is fine, then i booked it because i figured people would say we were racing, which in the end they did and i was wanted by the cops for about a week until my friend said that he didnt know what car it was Sooooo their crash testing doesn't suck, he still has it and feels like new, also he can keep up to a GTS and he is stock
i like the mini but CELICA all the way hands down, and to the english dud, the toyota fabricks are just placed in britten its the same ass them in japan its not about place ment but about fabrick controll and standar. and the celica is not made in uk
my friend has a mini cooper S, with yellow rims/wheels and green body, its pretty sick, upgraded turbo, intercooler, and reprogramed ecu, its fast, but really really low, i wouldnt think of puting a kit on it, or anything, a rwd model would rock though, but its quite expensive
I'll be the only one here to not just say "Celica". I think it all depends on which model of each you're looking at.
If you want an auto, just get the Mini. Automatic Celica's are not that fun to drive. If you're looking at stick... would you be getting a Cooper or Cooper S, and a GT or GTS?
I think, in stick, it goes Cooper < Celi GT < Cooper S < Celi GTS
The Mini is a nice car... I don't care what the stereotypes say. If you don't need the space of the Celica, you might want to look at a Cooper S.
I'm just a crosshair I'm just a shot away from you
I think the mini is a cute car. I looked at them a few weeks ago i think the inside is sweet looking. There was a cool cooper s there it was black with some gunmetal rims it looked sweet but it was really expensive.
