Recieved the JDM console yesterday from TimO wave (great seller) and just got the monitor today. I'm anxious to get this all installed and running. Oh yeah i plan on putting my xbox in the car instead of a dvd player because of $$ right now. But for those of you with monitors, any tips on the install? (e.i. where should i run to the power to?)

here's some pics

I see you have a Power Acoustic monitor. What's the model number, if you don't mind me asking?

The JDM one has a cut-out for a monitor instead of the cubbie hole

how do you install that? I mean i get the screen and the console thing but how would you go about installing it to the xbox and all those wires? Isn't that too much work? Im thinking about doing this if it doesn't cost more than 650 INCLUDING installation because i found an indash w/ dvd unit for 650 as well. Not the newest model but i dont' really care. As for the xbox, the xbox is a dvd player so it would be a waste if you installed both a DVD unit and a XBOX. What i want to know is, what's needed to get this installed? Wires, screen, the JDM console, and an XBOX or something to RUN it, power inverter for the Xbox/PS2 or whatever, FM modulator to hook it up to the speakers right? Is that it?

no way, i asked best buy for an installation quote and they quoted me $150 for the monitor install and $40 for the xbox install, which was rediculous. Honestly, the install is sooo easy. Just buy a monitor, hook up the power source to the brown wire in the clock (thanks Stun wave) and ground it. FOr the sound, my face has RCA inputs so buy an auxiliary input adapter (like this http://www.cardomain.com/item/PIOCDRB10) to connect the red and white wires to ur face for sound. Video (yellow) plugs right into ur monitor. Buy a power inverter (150 watts or more) to power the xbox and ur set. my inverter was $40 and the adapter was $30 so it was a lot cheaper than the install, and everything else is straight forward, so dont waste ur money... do it urself thumbsup

wait.. so if i have a Ps2/XBOX, approx how much TOTAL will i need to spend on this system? Including the monitor, JDM console, inverter, wires, etc.. How much approx? Would this setup be better than a indash screen and a dvd unit (2 DIN) from Clarion? I have to decide cause im gonna buy that for 650 installed this sunday but i like this choice.

$200 (monitor after tax) + $150 (console) + $40 (inverter)+ $30 (aux input adapter) + ~$10 for mounting supplies = $430

BTW, KARacing, I still haven't found the door sills I've been talking to you about. I'm gonna need to get them custom made, so it's more $$$ than I have right now. frown

The install looks awesome. Some time in the future when I have cash. I'm still a broke college student. thumbsdown
