Hello, I've been to EC before but forgot my SN. I have a '73 Celica ST with the stock 18RC and is in need of new weather stripping. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knows or heard about swapping in a 7MGTE in a RA21? I dont want to go the 18RG route but the 22/20R hybrid setup would be considered. I would guess there will be some cutting and custom fabbing for swapping in the 7M. Are there any reputable/reliabe shops in SD that could do this? I just moved to San Diego from San Jose.

Welcome to E-celica 73 celica wave I would think anything is possible with the right amount of money. Try Cabe toyota for your door rubbers they seem to have some hard to find stuff.

7m is going to be too long for the RA21.

But if you want a straight 6 in your RA21, the 1GGTE is almost a bolt in to replace the 18RC.

otherwise, if you want to stick with North American easy to find parts, then the sr20det or even the 4g63t rwd options would be nice...

if you want to stick with toyota, then the 20r/22r or the 2rz/3rz are the best ones. the 2rz and 3rz respond to boosting very well.

Okay, I was reading on the other post and you guys were saying a 302 SBF would fit in a 1st Gen Celica. Give me some deatils about this. I'm interested in this type of swap.

I can't really give any details because I haven't done it but I'm sure its a bitch. Modifying/moving the firewall, chassis strengthening and all that kinda thing. Basically you'll have to build a new car to fit under your celica body.
