I am thinking about getting this as my next car. It will be a while before I get another car, but I'm already looking at the Evo 8. It's definitely fast, it's a 4 door (cheaper insurance), and IMO it looks awesome. I saw an MR edition the other day, and WOW.
What is your guys' opinions about this car?

EVO all the way. the MR is even better, sTi's are nice but they're so friggin tall and it has late steering response. the EVO is much quicker, steering feels great like our celica's.

If I was going to get an EVO, I'd go for the EVO 6 or 5. The evo 6 was the last body that looked good -- before they pussified the whole car. The evo 5, i read someplace, is concidered the most brutal one for some reason. And that also looks very nice.

EVO 8 seems nice to me. Don't know too much about it though. I'm not much of a 4-door fan though. I wish they had a 2-door option.

The EVO is definetely a solid choice. AWD, blazing fast, has the real rally roots and heritage. Test drive one. Insurance is lower than the celica, as its a four door. Reason to that is because teh celica is the third most expensive car under 40 grand to insure.
However, here's a catch about the warranty on the EVO. BTW, it's not the Lancer EVO 8. Its just the Lancer Evolution. The warranty that Mitsu originally had covered everything for a certain time. Now, because of reasons due to street racing and accidents, EVOs that have been autocrossed will no longer be covered by warranty. WRX and STi buyers are given a free one year membership to the SCCA. Too many people fuck up their evos in uatocrossing and SOLO II racing. These costs covered by warranty are then passed onto the other mitsubishi customers. If they covered the warranties, regular mitsu drivers would be covering the costs. It's a smart move.

Nope, its just the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution in the US. The 8 is slapped on in other countries.
I get ur point though, meaning that its the VIII gen.

If it's gonna be a while before you can get one, it might be good to wait and keep your eyes open for a new arrival! Also, I'm not a huge fan of the Evo 8's. I just don't like the styling. *shrug* Performance-wise, I'd love to have one, they're nice cars! Just not *my* style

I called and got an insurance quote for a new Evo. At the time, my Celica GT was costing me $1200 for six months (good record + good student discount), the Evo would raise it about $150 per six months. Not bad. I also got a price quote for an SRT and it would raise it even more than the Evo (about $200 more per 6 months). Maybe the Evo is built better

The evo is probably cheaper because it has AWD and is less susceptible to weather related traffic accidents. Further, it has bigger brakes to prevent those pestering fender benders. Weight is also another thing to take into cause. Ultimately, it all adds up to safety.

probably price and insurance would make my choice for the evo 8. I think its based on financial status and what YOU as a person can afford. But personally i would get the STI. For some reason the new STI's look so aggressive and mean!

Evo MR is nice, but 4-doors IMO a true sports car should have 2 doors like our Celicas, which is why im going for a 350Z

I test drove an Evo a few weekends ago and it was pretty cool, but then i test drove a STI last friday and it kicked major ass. The STI felt a lot more responsive when getting on the gas, it just felt like a better all around car IMO.

look guys, the evo 8 and the sti both are fast cars hands down. Point is they both 4 door cars and unless you need to put a baby sit in the back then there is no need for the extra 2 doors .
