This probally is a dumb question, but i saw it the other day when i was looking on monkeywrenchracing.com and wanted to know, what is valve float??

Well A high-rpm engine condition in which the valve lifters lose contact with the cam lobes because the valve springs are not strong enough to overcome the momentum of the various valve train components. The onset of valve float prevents higher-rpm operation. Extended periods of valve float will damage the valve train. rice

so basically its your valves getting beat up by your piston.

in other, other words its when your valves dont pop closed fast enough and the cam lobe is no longer in contact with the valve
