my engine wouldnt turn over for 5 minutes this morning... i took out my intake butterfly and thats it on engine work, i also have a "TRD Performance intake" but its basicly a regular intake, if i put back in the butterfly will it start easier??
what else could it be? the car was in the garage all night and it wasnt driven at all on sunday...
if i had a garage heater would it be easier for the car to start? or one of those engine oil heaters??
i just need some advice, the winter is going to be around for a while and i dont want to hurt my car trying to turn it over

i wonder if your cold start could need replacing.. so soon? probably not though.. I'd say put back the butterfly and see if that helps then go from there.. finding out a problem of a car is pretty much guess and check if one thing doesn't work it could be something else..

it could also possibly be your battery. have you replaced it since getting your car?

taking out the butterfly does affect the cold start but it depends on how cold it is outside. I'd say put the butterfly back in till it warms up...then take it out and have your fun

could be the battery... especially if you have an alarm installed and haven't upgraded the stock one. Mine died on me a few winters back after having not driven it for a few days. Get an Optima and never look back

greg's car is like that...it sounds like a dead battery, but everything under the hood is so cold in the mornings it doesn't want to start. **im not saying to try this** but he actually smacks the starter and then it goes.

Mine has been taking longer to start in the cold (definately not that long, but it takes 5 or 6 turns more than normal). I also have a CAI, so I'm not sure if the butterfly is the problem or not... I'd say (like these folks have ) put the butterfly in, and if it starts faster, that's your problem! Otherwise, check on the battery.

actually my stock battery died its self this summer, it had proper voltage but the cranking amps was gone, so i got a new die hard one, works miracles with starting, plus a 3 yr warenty so its all good... i couldnt afford the optima one..
some mornings it starts and some it doesnt... if i got a oil warmer like the cop cars and larger trucks and more northly cars have would it start easier??
