Why are volk rims sooo damn expensive? What makes them better than the others? Do they weigh less?

they are forged instread of cast, some are 2 and 3 peice rims, and for the most part they are light.

volks are also the "original" style... everyone else copies them.

casting is when you make a mold for the metal...and you just pour molten metal into the mold...a pretty simple way to make a wheel. They are normally heavier and weaker than forged wheels.

forging(the same way wrenches are made) is where the metal is heated, and formed basically using tons and tons of force. so in this case a stamp of sorts is on the bottom of a HUGE mass, which slams into the metal to form it. I guess it's stronger because it compresses the metal together? Anyway those make the best wheels...swords are made that way too if you've ever seen like the lord of the rings...but they use a good old hammer and anvil thumbsup

I'm assuming you have seen Volks in person far away or up close, or on some websites.
I saw the difference 3 or so years ago without knowing the importance of the Volk name and I bought them for a price and a 3 month wait.
It's obvious to me.
Some people like buying a cheap white cotton sweater from Walmart for $10 that's the same exact same sweater from Polo for $100 with the polo guy.
Volk will never be that way even with the cheap knockoffs from Wheel Express, Tire and Wheel, or something to that nature.
Their original designs, fabrication, and finish is second to none, hence the price .
The Volk badge says it's for a damn fine wheel from a damn fine company. Believe it and accept no imitations.

^^^ I agree with you and would love to accept nothing else, but I do not have enough bank for Volks, so I will be happy with mine and lust after the Volks until the day comes that I can afford them. But you are right, they are worth the money. My boss has ge-37 ( I think thats right) 18's on his S2K, they are gunmetal and VERY nice!
