i know this is probably asked a lot, but i couldnt find another post about it
i wanted to paint my center console black, but i wanted to still see the AC controls...i am changing the lights to blue, so i wanted to still be able to see them
i know i could leave the whole section unpainted, or mask it off, but i was wondering if anyone had successfully painted the whole thing, but still found a way to see the pictures and the lights.
i read in the how-to that you could put many layers of clear coat on before the paint...that way you could see all the pictures, but that was for a red dash. will that method still work for black paint?
thanks for the help

I painted mine black too. Before that I had painted it in Purple, twice( it matched Graphics I used to have). Now I'm all black and I painted over the AC controls. At one time a couple years ago there was someone on this site who sold decal replicas of the control settings, but I can't remember who it was. I would be interested in buying some if we could ever find out. sorry i couldn't be more help...

grcelica, did you just sand down the console to paint it a different color or did you strip the paint?

I sanded the crap out of it. 200 grit, then 400, then 1000. This time I used Krylon fusion...no primer, and no clear coat like the last two times, and it came out pretty good. This spring I am going to sand 2000 grit and clear coat for the big shine! (unless I get Carbon Fiber kit) Heres a pic, not a good one tho...

I used Krylon Fusion...buy it anywhere, Wal-mart is where I got it. Gives good results.
