maybe if you can get a close-up of the dash/AC area, then i can figure it out
it might be carbon fiber, but i cant see that from this far...but if it was, i dont know why there would be gray areas around the controls

i say if you want to paint around the AC controls get some kinds of sticker like contact paper or something and use a compass to draw 2 concentric circles then cut it out so its like a ring. stick it over the controls and paint. then remove the sticker when the paint is dry. that what i would do.

I just drew the outlines of what I wanted to blank out on my computer and printed them on clear sticker paper. I cut them out and put them on the panel to mask off the AC stuff and removed them after the color coat. Then I clear coated everything. See my profile.

just make a stencil and mask that area off. What i would do is mask off the lettering and paint over the whole area so that you dont have a color change. will take a lot of work to do that though a lot of time and a steady hand.

well around the ac controls you can use wide masking tape, cut to the size of a circle on the tape, then lay the tape over the controls so you cant paint it...
