Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior Finally! That's what it's supposed to sound like!

Damn! I got a SRI 2 weeks ago and always thought that the sound was kinda weird... everyone said it sounded like a turbo but I didn't get anything close to that. So I thought it was just my cheap $50 bomz racing intake that didn't make the sound... disappointed...

Then one of my friend said that my intake doesn't sound right and sounds like it's not oiled. I told him I asked the seller that and he said yes it was ready to install.

But anyway I go out and buy the K&N recharger kit and spray some oil, wait 20 minutes and spray onto some missed spots.

Not expecting much of a change, I start my car and whoa! I could notice the difference right away! So I took it out for a spin and man what a difference did it make... It does sound like it has turbo! It's not as loud but I could still here the whistling sound.

For the guys who are disappointed with what they got, get the recharger kit and spray some oil! It makes it so much better!

Just thought it'd be good to tell you guys...

i dont think oil on the filter is going to cause it to sound different

I can't really explain how the sound was like but it did sound different after oiling

different like deeper because the filter was clogged with oil?

yeah! definately. also it's whistling like a turbo. sucking in air. before it was like kooooooo weird sound

don't spray too much of that oil, it will get your throttle body clogged...

that's what i'm worried about... might of over done it... i'll check it tomorrow.

if it is, just take it out and wash your filter again, and respray it lightly this time...
