my friend told me to get 215/45/17 for tire size because if I get the other tires it will make my rims look too small. Is that a good tire size to get for 17's?

I've decided to go with number 4. Now I just need to know which tires to get??? Also, do I get the 5x100 pattern or 5x114.3 pattern? I don't know what either one of those means.

Guys I'm about to order! I'm getting number 4 (17's) with a tire size of 215/45/17, but what pattern should I get? 5x100 or 5x114.3????
