My neighbor has a honda civic hatchback and he just got done putting in a turbo. It's only at 5psi, but seeing how it was my first time ever riding in a boosted car, it was fun as hell. The turbo started to kick in around 3000 RPMs and it just took off. And the sound of it is bad ass. I love how it starts to whistle and then make the psshhhh sound when he shifts or lets off the gas.

Now I want to turbo my GT. tongue

How much upkeep is involved with a turbo? Is it hard to maintain? I don't have much expertice in engine work confused But I am also interested in turbo

You need to find a good shop that you trust and does a lot of import cars in your area. Because tuning is paramount with a turbo. Your going to have to switch to synthetic oil, run 93 octane gas, run a fuel system cleaner about once every couple months, always allow your car to idle for a couple min. before turning it off so the turbo can cool down, dont over boost, and be sure to have it tuned if anything fishy starts happening. If you want your car to remain reliable, keep the boost at around 7-8psi for daily driving and never take it to redline, and please buy quality parts. Unless you are hot rodding around, your clutch should be fine, but it will start to slip after a while, so you will have to upgrade that sooner or later. A LSD would be a good idea because your going to be burning rubber every time you take off without one. whatever a kit is going to cost you, save up for about 2K more for install and tuning costs and various other parts that you will want to add during the install.

I've had the pleasure of trying out a couple of turbo cars. 350bhp Audi RS2, 380bhp audi S2 sedan, 240bhp Audi A4 turbo quattro, and a 300bhp Audi A3 turbo. And boost is addictive. Very very addictive. In a lot of ways, I'm glad I don't have a car with an engine like those 'cause I'd loose my license pretty fast. It's just too much fun smile

do the up keep and dont slack off on it. keep an eye on oil pressure and temperature water temp too. let the car cool off after a hard run. if you just take a look under the hood at least once every two weeks make sure there are no leaks worn hoses and no oil leaks itll last a while.

I used to have a turboed car also,I still miss the whistle of the blow off valve whenever i let go of the gas! For me it was really hard to maintain, i had a '95 eclipse gst it ended up costing me A LOT of money to maintain. I gave up after 6months of 400+ dollar a month repairs. The turbo was fine, just everything else fell apart. spineyes

You've already been in an Audi a3??? WE've only gotten them here. Not long at that too. Then again, you europeans always have the luxury of driving cars before us.

The A3 has been available for years. But I don't know if they even sold the first generation A3 in the US? It was a tuned 1st gen anyways - like the one in the picture, but with full bodykit+++++ smile

Yeah I would agree Boost is very addictive. I lost my Lic cause of me being to boost happy on my Talon but it was worth it cause that thing was so frickin fast. Eventually I will get back in to DSM Family.

i hate to say it but the Mustang Cobra and 404 Vette's are hella fun to ride in even if you are not the one driving. From the bottom end of the RPM range all the way to redline is so bad ass that its pritty tuff to move forward. I still want to go for a ride in one of my freinds 600 hp Camero and see how they all compare[/color]
