Hey i have these scratches on my sunroof (or moonroof for you picky people ) and i need to know how to get them off. If any of you have a suggestion to get this white crud out of it, please tell me. i can scratch some off with just my fingernails but that is putting more scratches on my sun roof. thanks.

I used my finger nail lots of deluted soap and water and a clay bar to get it off, then to make it as clear as teh windsheild it went through the same process as a jet plane would go through, removed layer of the glass sanded it and polished it back to be totally clear like brand new

Welcome to the club, those scratches come with age and gradually get worse. I don't remember the price for a replacement but it is totally not worth it.

SilverWolf, how did or do you clean the moonroof previously? I would like to know what cleaning products, what type of material to wipe/clean it, how long between cleanings, and when did your moonroof start to look like that?

all i can say is just get used to it cause even if you get it replaced, with time the new one is just going to end up this way also... i mean come on, i bet almost everyone in here that drives a celica have this problem and i do myself... shit i just got used to the scratches, and hell yea its ugly... face it, whats the chance of a new one not being like this too...

the new sunroof wont have this problem. best idea is to sand it and spray clear coats on top. im pretty sure itll work that way but havent tried cz i dont have that problem much yet. someone should try to do it. and then ask bluebatmobile to make a vinyl to cover the sunroof to prevent future distortions

that's normal for 2000-2002 celicas. the material used to make it is shitty, unlike the 2003+ models - which uses glass. the only thing to do is get another one from a junkyard

yes mine too, i have a 00, like what zero said. our 00-02 cars are made of a plastic poly shit or something, the new replacements are glass like whats on the 03's. you just have to deal with it. i'm sure you could sand it off and polish it but then it will be clear like that other guy said. and if you put vinyl over it you won't b able to see thru it. window tint will scratch and peel very easy.. so were screwed...cuz i'm not paying over $700 to get a new one.

may i suggest something..
if it is a frequent problem on some celica write a letter to Toyota US and require refunding...
or trying to sandpaper it with 1200 abrasive paper with water and then polish it... maybe it will work ..

^^^Toyota knows about this. that is why they started using glass on the 2003+ celicas. then the toyota dealers sell a replacement moonroof for like $500+, forget that

^ No, I believe that only the mechanism to open it was covered under warranty, and only for a year.

I think the moonroof is crap. I wish that our moonroof would tilt a bit more higher like that of the Integras for example. It does not look cool when you just have the thing up. And secondly, the material for the 00-02 like stated above is made from cheaply recycled crap that ends up looking like a crusty ass dry heel of a person that walks 17 years without any shoes!!!
lol, I hate it, ANDY please make us some freaking overlays for this damn thing!!!!
