yo like when i turn on the car it makes this crazy loud sound that sound like some cat being torn apart: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!! and it does that forever untill i get to school, but it goes away when i go on the highway.
ne way i took it to the dealer and told him it was a belt or something. he checked it and told me it wasnt but he still couldnt figure out what made the sound.
has someone ever had this same problem???? help plz this sound like kills my ears in the morning lol
ne ideas on what this could be and if so how much would it cost to fix????

feed me some more info here coach. how many miles, tranny, "mishaps" with the car... etc etc. Is it definately an engine thing and not feedback from the stereo? Does the sound go away when you increase speed or just in the time it takes for you to GET to the highway, feel me?

well ok... my celica has bout 40000 miles on it(not much) and only one real mishap when this huge SUV tiped the bumper of my car while going like 50 miles an hour(but no real damage, just had to replace the bumper)
i dont think its from the stereo and this sound has been getting worse over the weeks...it gets louder and stays there for a longer time.
only somtimes does it go away so its prolly the time not the acceleration

hmmmmmm is your car slow to respond to anything? shifting, accelerating, braking, steering? Auto or manual?

since you say it sounds like "EEEEEEE" I take that to mean it's high pitched?
Which rules out most exhaust problems...

that's what confused me lucky, he said the mechanic checked the belt out, which I would assume meant he checked the whole damn system out. That was my first thought.

seems to me its gotta be something in the serpentine system. nothing else would make that sound.

my other guess would be something in your break or steering, but if the car isn't slow to respond.
Maybe something is fucking up your air filter. Sometimes animals and debris get in there. THat's an option.

agree with the belt.. he need to take to a different dealer.. the one that he took to could be one of those dealer that tell you to get a new engine when you have a flat tire.
