Hey everyone! Getting things situated with my new shop finally. They are currently working on getting me an intake prototype ready for my approval, then I'm having about 50-70 made (depending on available cash at the time)

Lookin at goin back to stainless steel or aluminum. So a couple color options and polished will be available.

I'm having 25 exhausts made as well. There are about 13-15 orders already so that leaves 10 extra.

Magnaflow is custom making the muffler for me (turn around would be about next week for them to finish and ship the mufflers). I have the pipes already bent, cut, and polished. Tips and flanges are on the way.

Just wanted to give everyone an update that turnaround is doing just that...turning around

More orders are welcome to speed up the process!

How long is the waiting list? I'm interested on headers but only after actual finish product and dyno proven are shown.

i'll purchase the whole set (i/h/e) as soon as it is available.

with the addition the camshaft (hopefully eventually) i'd like to see a pre-tuned map for the apexi pfc based upon all tpr parts.

The cams will be out before the header. Mainly because there is more money to be made in the cams, and it takes less money for R&D. My new shop has its own dyno and I already have a guinea pig that lives 5 minutes away from it grin.

I'm going to be talking to my shop about the intakes again tomorrow. It looks like we are going to use metal for them once again. I will probbly offer Blue/Red/Polished for color choices.

Like i said before, any orders now will greatly help speed up the process. Pix to come!!!!

Well I am not dynoing the cams myself. Everyone bitched that they wanted an independant 3rd party dyno so I am giving the prototype cam to a fellow board RESPECTED board member and he agreed to dyno it.

Right now the GTS is getting the cam, the GT will also get one once i get more cashflow coming in and recover my losses.

Wellll...the prototype is ALMOST done. the biggest problem will be getting the cores made. since no one sells cores, my shop has to make them from scratch. Once we get a prototype core made and ground and it works fine, then boom the first group buy will begin. So, sooner than you think wink

The difference over stock cams is performance wink.

They will be priced according to their market. right now im aiming for about 1100-1200.

yeah, I dunno ANY company that does the kinda dyno requests you people ask for. I'd love to see you demand something like that of say AEM or Injen. they could care less wink

When the prototypes are done I'll personally be dynoing them for easy cuase I'm tired of everyone givin him shit about the dynos.

Dynos = $$$$$$ more dynos = even more $$$$$ so if you want that to turn into higher cost products I'm sure he'll do any dynos you want lol.

this is also why nobody else has dynoed it yet. I do it becuase I always dyno my new mods so I share the results. also I have to end up tuning the power fc anyways lol

so, as soon as things are ready, you'll see pics, opinions, dynos and most likely track times right away thumbsup

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

also for the guy asking for a Power FC map to be included - I wouldnt personally hand that sucka out for free. I can't speak for what cTPR is gonna do but that's NOT cheap.

last map we created took about 10 hours of dyno time. regular price which most people pay is $120 per hour so I'll let you do the math.

also I'm almost positive the simple map MWR made that most people still use will NOT work right with the cams. You'll have to get it tuned. thumbsup and you're lucky cause I told Easy_C that I would dyno it with the mwr map so he can let you guys know what will happen, good or bad.

Lastly I'm using my own $$ to help you guys with independent dynos so if you don't like em, dont bother complaining cuase I wont care either way wink

we dont know if the stock ecu will work. We changed the duration and valve lift on both profiles so I am assuming it might not work. I'm not entirely sure of the stock ecu's software capability. If its a dynamic setup that just accepts parameters and infinitely adjusts accordingly, it will work fine. If its a static setup with set boundaries and parameters, it may not...

i know the difference would be performance..i'm asking whats different about them? lighter weight?

mike (lucky) are you going to post up the power fc maps you do? that would only make it fair. just saying..i can tune a stock celica with the fc to get some extra horses without any perfomance mods whatsoever (although that probably wouldnt be very beneficial for the car spineyes )

i would like to see dynos of the cams with a stock ecu, personally.

and mike..glad you're dynoing something to get people off of chris' back..but really, understand that people don't want to buy things when the performance benefits are in question.

well the thing that gets me is why are they in question in the first place? Its not like im injen and claim 16whp with just an intake. lol ive even sent the dyno files themselves to people. But alas, this time around i guess it will have more credibility with mike doin it.

hahah i did see that 16 or whatever (maybe a little less but still) whp claim by injen...thats some crazy bs spineyes some thing with trd..they say 20 whp with their exhaust.

theres something to be said about accuracy and holding all other variables equal. sure, if i dyno my car at 100 degrees it'd be less than when i dyno'd it at 50 with a turbine blowing 60 mph winds on my intercooler thumbsdown i can't stand manufacturer 'propoganda'

good luck with eveything chris..everything i've seen from you i love. your stuff will be on my car someday rice (lol although i still want dynos tongue )

the dynos will be on stock ecu. I won't have time to get he power fc tuned up at first. I imagine it will take around 8hrs just to do a basemap. it'll all depend on how well it takes to the old base map we made.

also I dunno if I'll post my map or not. it's gonna cost me over $400 in dyno time so giving it away for free to save everyone else some $$$ isn't high on my priority list lol I also don't wanna have to deal with the liability issues involved with releasing my own map.

think about it this way, How many people bought the Power FC from MWR and continue to use their "base map" w/o dynoing it or tuning it to their car? I'd say 80-90% of the people who buy it. with an improper une you can destroy your car. I don't wanna have to worry about that responsibility. rarely will 2 celicas react the same with the same map.

i totaly agree with Mike, i think its kinda stupid he is spending his own money and you guys are asking for more, stop crosing the line, stop being cheap damn it. if you want good performance pay for it. i think he is doing us a big favor by even dynoing the car, just because pplz wanna be so up tight about dynos, if you really dont trust the product then dont buy it. just my 02

damn, i didn't mean to start a big controversy over a tpr specific base map for the apexi pfc. just thought that with easy_c bumping out a ton of parts that it would be nice to see a map that works in conjunction with all the available parts since i would assume that he would already have his car tuned to the entire product line.

i never asked for it to be free, just an option that could be distributed (for whatever cost) to those that purchased the entire product line of tpr. selling the base map would reduce tuning time for tpr buyers and also help tpr recover r&d costs associated with developing the product. one hand washes the other and both parties benefit.

hell, i'd pay a significant amount for a map that was tuned specifically for the tpr i/h/e & cam (i've been waiting for the entire product line to debut). he retails all the parts, why not retail a base tuning service as well?

i was not asking for a handout from anybody. alright so dyno testing costs like a grand. sell the map for $500. the buyer saves half the tuning cost so he's happy. you recover half your costs so you're happy. sell it to two buyers and you've recovered all your costs. sell it to three and you've got a profit.

isn't this a reasonable question to ask? i was just hoping tpr was looking in to this as a service to retail. i have much appreciation and respect for all parties associated with tpr including all you guinea pigs, try not to take offense, we aren't all trying to roll you to benefit at your expense.

thanks.

smile

i understand that mike thumbsup

what i meant was that any dyno with a pfc may not be a true representation of the products performance. stock ecu would be great for comparison's sake.

The header is being put on hold because I delegated the R&D funds for it to getting the cam out. The cam will be a bigger seller and our community needs it right now. But once some nice cash comes in from the cams, we will be getting that header out as well. We also have a couple other goodies for ideas too, but its time to market smart and get things done quickly smile

And no my car isnt tuned for anything right now. I only have a Gen 1 TPR intake on it frown...

lucky, i had no idea that you were being hit up for maps like that. i hear you now.

i've been waiting for the tpr i/h/e set to debut. i planned on getting that first, then, adding the camshaft and apexi pfc. just wanted a map to start off with 'cause i planned on taking the map & pfc together down to a tuning shop and having it tweaked (hopefully it can run with the stock ecu so i can have the cam installed prior to tuning).

never intended to run with the base map as the final tuning so if tpr or anybody else sells the base map perhaps a clause that states that it is not to be utilized as a final map could prevent liability and doing so is at the buyer's own risk.

i'd like to see further dynos of the new parts coming out not 'cause of doubt, skepticism, or credibility of tpr but curiousity of the awesome potential that is possible that has eluded the celica market until now.

personally i'd like to thank tpr and associates for catering to the inquisitiveness of our fellow celica owners regardless of how unappreciative they may appear.

Question about the exhaust? So, is it going to be an axle back setup or is it going to go further forward on the system(Towards Cat)? Will any welding be required for this system?

We don't know yet, my old shop kinda screwed me and made the piping to fit a 6" tip. i cant find any 6" tips with a 2.5 in but I think we found a 7" that can be cut. i'll post pics if my shop takes them.

i'll be goin over to the new shop as soon as the tips get there. that way I can take pics for easy_c.

I saw 1 today that was the same thing only not the right size. it was pretty good lookin.

it's polished, slant cut and rolled edges.

once the exhaust is finished he can put the tip on and cut it and measure it and all that good stuff. chris doesnt want them to stick out either.

the guy doesgood work. just be patient and trust that everything will work out fine in the end grin

if you people knew how much behind the scenes crap that goes on you'd have a cow rofl

No Danny 7 youre not alone; I ordered mine in Nov 04 and I'm still waiting.

Unfortunely the first two shops that Chris had contracted to produce the intakes basically took the money and ran.

The good news is the new shop he has lined up is the same one that is producing the TPR exhaust and those are actually shipping, so this shop seems more competent and reputable.

for more current updates check out:

new celica dot org > Forum > Group Purchase > Group Purchases > TPR Intakes

and for TPR exhausts info > TPR exhausts

Those threads are updated almost daily, and there are pics of the exhaust and some pics of the first gen TPR intake.

Danny, I've spoken to you several times. I explained to you that I can't afford to issue out refunds right now. BECAUSE the shops took my money, I need all the cash I can get to get these intakes/exhausts out. Obviously I can't afford to personally dish out thousands of dollars to get everything taken care of within a week.

I applied for a business loan, I got denied. I am taking very serious legal action against the shop that took a majority of the money. Will I see the money soon? Probbly not. Will I continue to do my best to get products out as quickly as I can. Of course. However, to put myself in the position of poverty by owing thousands of dollars as a result of a few shops ripping me off is proposterous, especially when I personally am not legally bound to it.

Now before the customers start to panic thinking I'm stealing money and doing nothing with it. The bottom line is people WILL get their product. I'm doing all I physically can from a TPR standpoint to get it done and out there. I launched the cams earlier than scheduled because thats the best market to get into right now (since there is no market). Not only that, but the cam place I am using has amazing turn around time. They are ready for purchasing now, but people are waitin on the dynos.

Once things are running smoothly, a race header will be out...the design is already done!

So everyone hang in there, the products are coming!!!!

Yes many times...in fact my question was if I was alone in this situation...

Chris you know the story...on the 5th of dicember I made tha payment only because you said you were ready to ship...I'm very sorry that you had money problems with that shop, but I think you had to tell me you were NOT ready to ship so I'd not have made tha payment...I trusted you, made the payment and now on your last e-mail you told me you don't know if/when the Intake will be ready and when you can refund me the money...

This is what makes me angry...just the fact that you told me you the intake were ready, but they were NOT!!!

The point you're not getting is that I was told they were ready. I never relayed any information that I would have known to be false or speculated. Thus, this is a major basis for my lawsuit against that said shop. They call it de-frauding someone. I've lost 10's of thousands of dollars in business because they consistently lied to me and thus to you, the customer. Them stealing the money is only a secondary part of it.

For what it's worth you can read my comments in this thread on why I feel the TPR intake is something worth waiting for.

I gotta hand it to Chris for being the only person I know to develop a 7th Gen Celica induction system that increases performance without compromising the overall reliability and integrity of the engine.

In my opinion Celica intakes that utilize pipe sizes larger than 2.5 with the stock ECU tend to run the engine lean throughout most of the power band, it is a small enough degree that the stock ECU is able to compensate for most of the time, but an extended lean condition non the less. This is not a good state to run in for long periods of time if you are at all concerned about engine longevity. Just my $0.02, others may disagree.

Chris the point is that I'm not angry with you I'm angry with this situation...What I feel is that I took $200 and thrown them in the rubbish bin...and this is not a good feeling.

I told you many times I'm sorry for what happened to you,but I'd really like to have my money back...and at this point I think this is not going to happen. Also beacause I sent you an e-mail a few days ago and you didn't answer...

I'd be very pleased with that...at this point I'm not confident I'll ever receive the TPR intake.

Sounds like Easy_C has a working prototype for the new TPR CAI.

He just needs someone who lives in the Fontana CA area to volunteer to test the fitment.

If you think you could help please PM Easy_C about it.
