Ahrite so this all started happening about 2 days ago. What is happening is that when I am idle or when I am on low rpm (sometimes) there is this weird rattling noise coming from the engine bay. I checked to see if it was the front strut bar or if any of the nuts holding the bar is loose, but they are not. But the weird part is that everything is good until recently, so I am not sure where to exactly inspect. I did not put on any mod recently so...

Sounds like plastic tho if that helps, and it is not a super loud rattling, it rattles and as I press on the gas, it would go away. Would also occur if I was to shift to neutral and let it sit.

BTW this does not happen all the time, only happens randomly, but when it does, I would have to gas it and go to make it stop.

Any type of advice is welcome.

I tried doing that tonight but the sound from the engine is louder than the rattling so I can't really pinpoint it. Will try again tomorrow. I'll check out the fans.

Checked out the fan and nothing there. It kinda sounds like it is coming from the engine?

It is a 2000 model. I got my belt tensioner and timing belt replaced already in July.

I can hear it more from the inside of the car but I am sure that it is coming from the engine bay.

It is somewhat loud. You can really hear it when inside the car, but when I popped open the hood, I can't seem to distinquish the noise.

Hmmm, it might? I tried listening up close to the transmission, and I am not sure if I hear a bit of rattling or not because the engine is a bit loud. It was hard to tell where the noise was emitting from since everything seems to be making some sort of a noise.

What are you experiencing?

check it out with the dealer if it is under warranty...i had a similar problem and we found that i had bad bearings in my transmission...something like that...but i was lucky because they had to tear it down to find out what was wrong...and if it wasnt covered under warranty then i would have had to pay like 1200 for them just to tear it down and tell me whats wrong...

Which warranty did it fall under? Was it under extended or the bumper to bumper?

Found the culprit. My front strut bar was hitting the screw from the battery tie down.

i was gonna tell you to turn on the AC and then see if you hear that noise.
plus celicas have timing chain, not timing belt. so i assume they changed ur belt tensioner and belt.

Yea, thanks for the heads up man.

Does anyone if the Tanabe front strut bar creates the same annoying rattling?
