ok i have been around here for a long time now and have seen topics about people with a squeak oging into second gear, until now my car has not done it but i just realized it this past month and was wondering the way to fix it. i tried a search but couldnt find the threads and remember from a while ago about lithium grease but if anyone has a how to it would be appreciated

the dealership fixed it even tho I didnt say anything(for free) so i guess take it to the dealer

Take it to the dealer for a little squeak?
Spray some Liqud Wrench where the shift linkage joins with the links on the trnsmission housing. Squeak gone.

Do you have an aftermarket intake? If so, if you look down the pipe that comes out from the throttle body, you will see these gold looking part of the car, spray all of the joints with white lithium grease.

Another easy way to spot this part of the car is to have someone shift while you inspect the engine bay.

If you do not have an aftermarket intake like myself, you gotta take apart the stock air box to get into this part of the car. While there, you can also spray a bit of grease on this rubbery part on the left of the shift linkage. This connects to your clutch.

I'm a bit curious on this myself. Not so much on the shift linkage and noise, but the white lithium grease.
I could and I'm probably wrong, but white lithium grease is easily washed off during the course of driving in the rain and the elements (maybe the spray on stuff). White lithium grease I have heard will not bear any high temps. and the elements.
Any bushing you have on your car will not require white lithium, why; because it will wear or run off. (Hotchkis supplies red grease to there bushings and so does any one that knows cars)
Those will require red grease. There is a difference.
I put white lithium grease on some bearing parts on my suspension and I wish I didn't.
It caked and was doing nothing do to the elements and not temp. and I had to clean that crap off. It actually attracted more debris than if I applied nothing. The same with the shift linkage.
Why go white when you can go red and forget it forever.

you dont need white lithium grease... any lithium based grease will due...

i dunno where these people found the spray kind, but the lithium based grease i bought was black, and in a tube similar to the kind they use for caulking... so i used my fingers to apply it...

the grease was thick too... very viscous.

also, my engine bay where the grease is applied, doesnt get very much debris in it, so it doesnt get dirty and shitty... i could understand why it would for your suspension...

so far its been on for 8 months and has worked perfect for me...


btw, i bought mine at home depot.

so pretty much i can use the lithuim grease for the twm shifter? anyways im thinking the spray stuff is like wd-40 and i was thinking about getting some today but thought it wouldnt stay on so i decided to ask, i found the part and had my step dad get in the car and go from first to 2nd and found the parts and will fix it tomorrow thanks for the help

No pics, but right behind and below your intake under the hood is the small brass colored linkage that is probly causing the problem. Have someone gently move the shifter while you look under there. I sprayed some Wd-40 directly on it, haven't had a problem since.

Don't use the can shit, it's not meant for this kind of application.

Use the stuff in the tube, get a laxtex glove and smear it on.
